Over the years I’ve had hundreds of people reach out to book me as their makeup artist. I’ve had so many referrals, folks compliment my work, leave me wonderful reviews and just make me feel so valued. It’s a great feeling as a local makeup artist.
But you know what’s even better? When someone compliments you as a person - your laugh, your energy, your personality, your heart. When your talent as a makeup artist is recognized but so is everything that makes you, you. That’s gold!
Thank you to the people who go out of their way to share that with me. I recently had a follower send me a screenshot of a FB group where 4 people in a row said really nice things about me and had recommended me. This follower went out of her way to msg me and share that with me because she thought it would make me smile. Let me tell you, it made me smile, run to my boyfriend and show him and then maybe tear up a lil bit.
Being your true self always gets you farther in life. Always! There are always going to be people that don’t like you or simply don’t jive with you. That’s ok too. Don’t take it personally, wish that person well and be happy for the the next person (in my case, the next makeup artist) that has the opportunity to work with them ❤️

I am so proud of us. I am so proud to be Anishinaabe. I am so proud to be Indigenous and to surround myself with beautiful, inspiring, incredible kin. For every success; I cheer for you and with you. For every tear that falls, I hold space for you, lay tobacco for you + pray for you. For every barrier you break down, I smile with pride for you. For everything you do, I see it and acknowledge it.
We continue to thrive, showcasing the beauty of our culture, our languages, our teachings and our ceremonies. We show the world our strength, resiliency and courage.

and to those young ones, whether you have found your voice or are still on your journey to discovering it - remember, don’t be afraid to take up space if you’re the only Indigenous person or voice in the room. We have been silenced for many years- if your presence makes people uncomfortable, then you may be doing something right. You will no longer belittle yourself or make yourself small for someone else’s comfort - if it’s coming from a place of honesty and truth - that is what is important.
to my fellow non Indigenous relatives, join us in this celebration of everything that we are; amazing, courageous, inspiring, smart, beautiful people. Please take the time to appreciate and support Indigenous people and our contributions and success.

My bride Kayla was concerned about her stress and hormonal breakouts and I said “don’t worry, I got you covered!” LITERALLY! 😂
The makeup for her bridal shower turned out beautifully. We were both very happy with the soft, natural glow.
I did encourage her to go see Tina from @myuzartistry and explained how Tina is the only person I want touching my face - I’ve been seeing her for years now! She went and got a custom facial and came up with a plan and Kayla ending up texting me telling her skin is doing so much better and she was thankful for the recommendation! 🤍

Lana’s wedding trial makeup that we did for her wedding social!
The biggest concerns for Lana were the dark pigmentation and circles under the eyes which I fixed with light color correcting, more natural looking makeup since she doesn’t wear much on a regular basis and lastly, no false lashes but I convinced her and we ended up doing a really, soft natural pair that felt so comfortable on her - she loved it! 🥰
