Well hi, hello there! I’m realizing that I’ve never formally introduced myself on my page so….. here it goes!!
I’m Vanessa to most, Nessa and Ate Vanessa to my family, and Nessy to my squad besties. I’m Chilena and Filipina and the beautiful face behind Makeup by Ness, a Makeup Artist in the DMV area that specializes in Editorial, Film, and Bridal Glam!
Many ask how I fell in love with the art of makeup and I reply and say “well, it all started when I was a young dancer. I LOVED the thought of getting all dolled up with a full beat to go perform on stage. Huge lashes, bold blush, and a bright red lip of course.” I was definitely one of the 2016 high school baddies that got up super early in the morning to do a full beat before catching the bus to school for sure. Can you believe that’s been a decade ago?! GASP!!! Anyways, it’s always been a passion of mine that’s gotten me through the toughest times and most special times in my life. I love having my best friends model for me because they’re just always down for anything and I just love setting a look on them. I still get shocked but get soooo much joy when I pull a makeup look off. Like the “I actually did that?” thought but then I remind myself I am that girl. ;)
I’ve recently been the type to have a “YOLO/why not go for it” mindset doing pretty cool side quests like being an Extra on movies and tv shows that were filmed in the DMV area and working at Walt Disney World in the costume department for the performers at the “Beauty and the Beast” show in Hollywood Studios which all were the most amazing, coolest, and craziest experiences ever! As of right now, you can catch me on “A House of Dynamite” on Netflix hehe. I love trying something new and totally different just to get me out of my comfort zone and just to see what’s out there. Anything that surrounds me and allows me to be in the creative space makes me the happiest gal.
