Iām Victoria ā salon owner of Edit in Bury St Edmundās, and Iāve been in the beauty industry for around 15 years.
I actually started out as a freelance makeup artist and if Iām honest⦠I never set out to have a salon.
Edit was born after a really uncomfortable experience with a client when I was working from home. It made me realise I needed to separate work and family life, and from there the idea grew into creating a space where other people in the industry could feel at home too.
One thing Iāve always struggled with as a business owner is never really knowing if Iām doing enough.
Thereās no manager above you telling you what to do next or giving you a āwell doneā when something goes right. Because of that, I probably push myself harder than I need to. Iāve always said Iād be a lot less hard on myself if someone tapped me on the shoulder every now and again and said youāre doing a good job.
Something Iāve been told my whole life is:
āBefore I met you, I thought youād be a bitch.ā
Which always makes me laugh because Iām actually very down to earth. I spend most of my days chatting & laughing with clients and I get really excited about collaboration and meeting people in the industry who genuinely support each other. I value those friendships massively⦠although over the years Iāve definitely learned a few lessons about who is genuine and who isnāt. Unfortunately, my trusting nature gets me used quite a lot.
A few random facts about me:
⢠Coffee over tea, always
⢠I prefer reading over watching TV (you couldnāt pay me to watch love island)
⢠My favourite celebrity is @jeremyclarkson1 and Iāve probably watched every Top Gear / Grand Tour special about 5000 times
⢠I fall asleep most nights reading conspiracy theories
⢠Loyalty, respect and good manners mean everything to me
I pay attention to the small things ā how people treat others, how they speak to people, the little mannerisms. That tells you everything.
If youāve made it this far, welcome to my little corner of the internet.
Thank you @neilbaxterphotography for our most recent brand photos!!!!

Another perfect week spent in Dubai with my people ā¤ļø
So grateful to my husband for taking us on this much needed trip ā¤ļø
We had the best time here again. It was Amelieās first time here and she loved it. Jonathan and I find it hard to sit still for 5 minutes so weāve been here, there and everywhere all week. I reckon Weāve driven up and down the palm around 75 times in 6 days š¤£
We took a trip to Dubai Mall, saw the fountains, went on a jet ski, had a pool day at Atlantis The Royal (thanks Libby š) and Amelie got to experience her first Yacht party šš½ and this time around we even got to visit my pal @eelizabethwall and her gorgeous family at their home ā¤ļø
Thank you another fabulous timeā¦Until next time, Dubai! ā¤ļø
To The Edit Girls,
Happy New Year, my beautiful girls. I genuinely donāt have the words to fully express how much each of you means to me. Knowing you ā both individually and together ā is something I will always feel deeply grateful for. You inspire me every single day, not just through your talent and work ethic, but through your strength, resilience, kindness and honesty.
This salon is what it is because of you. The energy, the warmth, the safety, the laughter and the support that fills this space exists because you show up every day as your authentic, unapologetic selves. Watching you grow, support one another and build something so special together has been one of the greatest privileges of my life.
Thank you for trusting me, for believing in the vision, and for being the kind of women who lift each other higher instead of competing. I wish you all a year filled with health, happiness, abundance and success in every sense of the word. May our sisterhood continue to deepen, strengthen and evolve ā always rooted in love, loyalty and respect.
All my love, always and forever,
Victoria x
A HUGE THANK YOU to every single person who came to our house warming last week ā¤ļø
I wonāt lie⦠I didnāt sleep at all the night before because I was convinced no one would turn up. But OH. MY. GOD. I was completely blown away by how many of you came.
It was a Thursday, in the middle of December, absolutely freezing ā and you all had far better things you couldāve been doing⦠yet you still came out in crowds to support us. I will honestly be eternally grateful.
Thank you to our family and friends for showing us so much love.
And to our industry friends⦠who said the beauty & hair industry was bitchy?! NOT US, HUNS š¤
Seeing so many local professionals turn up to support us genuinely warmed my heart. This community is something special.
THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU ā¤ļøāØ
