Phil walked into Makers Mill with a simple idea — and a pile of scrap metal and wood.
Today, he has a fully functioning cider press… and even engineered the apple-chopping mechanism himself using recycled tool blades.
Curious mind. Skilled hands. And a place to explore an idea — sometimes that’s all it takes.
Tomorrow is Giving Tuesday, and Phil’s story is just one example of what this community makes possible. Every day, someone walks through our doors to learn, create, repair, connect — and often, to feel like they truly belong.
If you’d like to support this work, there are so many meaningful ways to give:
• volunteer your time
• donate tools or skills
• make a financial contribution — online or through tax-smart options like stock gifts, IRA distributions, or donor-advised funds

Thank you for believing in what we can make together.

One of the most loved classes at Makers Mill starts tomorrow, and there’s still space to join the journey!
Joyful Arts Techniques with Phyllis MacDonald is a 5 week series all about creativity, exploration, and letting go of perfection. You’ll experiment with different materials and mediums, create your own handmade art journal, and spend time making art in a relaxed, encouraging environment.
This class has become a favorite at the Mill because it’s about more than art. It’s about play, connection, confidence, and giving yourself permission to create.
No experience needed, just curiosity and a willingness to try something new.
Fridays from 10am to 1pm beginning May 15.

Happy Mother’s Day to the OG Makers 💛
This past week at Makers Mill, our Adaptive Art class was full of laughter, creativity, and a whole lot of love as artists worked on special handmade gifts for the mother figures in their lives.
To the moms, stepmoms, grandmothers, chosen moms, mentors, caregivers, and all the people who help shape curious humans, creative spirits, and brave ideas - thank you.
Today can hold a lot of feelings for a lot of people, so wherever this day finds you, we’re sending extra care your way.
And to all the people helping others build confidence, creativity, community, and joy: that’s making, too.
Thanks for making the makers! 💛

I can’t believe there is still space in this jewelry class with Deb Ryan @dryanbagge !
Join us Saturday from 9:30 to 12:30 to make a pair of stunning earrings of your own design while learning skills that can last a lifetime. In this hands on class, you will explore Celtic spirals, one of the oldest and most meaningful symbols in Celtic culture, while working in copper or silver.
You will learn how to cut, hammer, shape, drill, and solder with an acetylene torch. Start by practicing in copper, then create something truly special in silver if you choose. You can follow a design or bring your own ideas to life.
Deb is a wonderful instructor with years of experience and a love for Celtic and nature inspired jewelry. This is a great opportunity to learn from her in a small, supportive class.
All levels welcome, ages 18 and up. Class size is just 3 to 6 people.

Earth Day feels like a good reminder of what we care about - creativity, sustainability, and taking care of the place we call home!
At Makers Mill, that shows up in a lot of ways, like the upcoming Upcycled Fashion Show on April 26. It’s a celebration of turning something old into something new, with designs that rethink waste and highlight what’s possible when creativity meets sustainability. Come support local makers and be part of it:
makersmill.org/upcycled
It also shows up in how we care for our community. Join us for Wolfeboro Town Clean Up Day on Saturday, May 2. Stop by Makers Mill between 8–11am to grab supplies and help clear winter’s litter from our roads and public spaces. It’s part of Valley Pride Day and a great way to make a real impact alongside neighbors and friends.
We’ll also be hosting a Makers Mill volunteer spring cleaning day, focusing on refreshing our shared spaces inside and out. Projects will include organizing shops, tidying common areas, light repairs, and getting the building ready for a busy season ahead. It’s a simple, hands-on way to give back to the space and spend time with others who care about it—and a fun way to check out the space if you haven’t been in yet.
However you spend it, we hope you find a way to connect with and care for the Earth today!
