Un’esperienza di confronto tra contesti accademici e tradizioni artigiane, questa volta in Marocco. Alla Euromed University di Fès, insieme alla Facoltà di Architettura dell’Universidade de Évora, abbiamo organizzato un workshop dedicato all’artigianato locale, parte fondamentale dell’identità culturale del Paese. Studenti provenienti da background diversi hanno lavorato insieme tra ricerca, discussione e attività sul campo, entrando in contatto diretto con i maestri artigiani e le loro tecniche. Dalle lezioni teoriche alle visite nei laboratori, il percorso ha offerto strumenti per riflettere sul ruolo del fatto a mano oggi e sulle sue connessioni con architettura, sostenibilità ed economia locale. Un’occasione di scambio e apprendimento in un contesto ricco di storia e saper fare. An experience of exchange between academic contexts and craft traditions, this time in Morocco. At Euromed University in Fès, together with the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Évora, we organized a workshop dedicated to local craftsmanship, a fundamental part of the country’s cultural identity. Students from diverse backgrounds worked together through research, discussion, and field activities, engaging directly with master artisans and their techniques. From theoretical lectures to visits to workshops, the program offered tools to reflect on the role of handmade practices today and their connections with architecture, sustainability, and the local economy. Nello storico squero Tramontin, oggi “Lo Squero”, la tradizione della cantieristica veneziana continua a vivere attraverso una nuova generazione di maestri d’ascia. Dopo anni di formazione accanto al maestro Gianfranco “Crea” Vianello, Silvia Scaramuzza e Francesco Stenghel hanno intrapreso un percorso autonomo, riportando nuova energia a questo luogo. Il loro lavoro parte dal restauro e dalla manutenzione, ma si sviluppa attraverso uno studio costante delle tecniche e delle forme storiche, tra legno, strumenti e gesti tramandati. At the historic Tramontin boatyard, now known as “Lo Squero,” the tradition of Venetian shipbuilding continues to thrive through a new generation of maestri d’ascia (master shipwrights). After years of training alongside master Gianfranco “Crea” Vianello, Silvia Scaramuzza and Francesco Stenghel have embarked on their own path, bringing new energy to this historic site. Their work begins with restoration and maintenance, but evolves through a constant study of historical techniques and forms, combining wood, tools, and passed-down gestures. Il primo appuntamento della serie Meet the Makers, intitolato Frammenti di artigianato e design in laguna, ha segnato per noi l’inizio del nostro percorso. Con questo incontro abbiamo ufficialmente dato vita alla nostra associazione no-profit, nata con un obiettivo chiaro: valorizzare, proteggere e tramandare i mestieri d’arte. In questa occasione di dialogo abbiamo ascoltato le storie e le pratiche di @masonefernando @atelier_danielalevera , @stefanomorassostudio , @marisaconvento e @ilforcolaiomatto : maestri accomunati da una profonda attenzione per i materiali, la qualità del lavoro manuale e la cura del dettaglio. Il designer @studio_omrirevesz ha inoltre offerto uno sguardo inedito sul rapporto tra l’artigianato veneziano e il design contemporaneo internazionale. L’artigianato è emerso non solo come alta espressione culturale e creativa, ma anche come un modello di produzione sostenibile, capace di rispettare i "tempi del fare" e di valorizzare processi produttivi consapevoli.
