“…there’s more than darkness in “Hamlet,” and more than despair in its title character. You just need to see the story from the right angle — specifically, his.“

🎉 Celebrating one week since the launch of HAMLET with these BTS shots from recording!
The first photo depicts the mic rig sound designer Mikhail Fiksel engineered for Daniel Kyri, which included binaural ear mics and a halo rig centered on Kyri’s forehead to stabilize the sound. As he shared with Good Tape, “we are essentially hearing his speech the way we hear our speech. It resonates through the skull.”
Mikhail and team also utilized traditional shotgun mics and lavaliers (pictured in the second photo) to allow for movement and maximize performance.
Also pictured: associate director Sydney Charles embodying the role of listener during a remote session, Mikhail and director Jeremy McCarter at Tightrope recording studio, and musician Eduardo Curley-Carrillo.
A dream feature from Phoebe Lett and @goooodtape ✨🎧✨
“By turning the actor playing Hamlet, Daniel Kyri, into a human microphone, the Make-Believe Association has perhaps created the most intimate experience of “Hamlet” ever made — transporting the audience literally into the head of the tragic prince himself.”
