🌍 Today is Earth Overshoot Day – the day we’ve used up more resources than the planet can regenerate in a year. 🎉👀 We’re excited to launch make-a-thek – a bold, EU-funded initiative that brings together 9 international partners to reimagine public libraries as hubs for making, learning, and innovation for local communities. 📚 🤝🧵🪡 ✂️ Where Libraries Meet Making, Fashion, Heritage Crafts & Circular Futures 📍 Over the next three years, we’ll be setting up hands-on maker spaces in public libraries across Europe. A new makerspace has also opened in Barcelona at @bibcampdelarpa ✨ @bibcampdelarpa is a modern and minimalist library with a bright and beautifully designed interior. The makerspace blends naturally into the open architecture while also creating a space for connecting, exchanging ideas, and making together. 🧵📚 And some workshops have already taken place! It is great to see the space not only finished, but already being actively used by the community. Well done, @bibcampdelarpa we’re so happy to see it grow! Especially after our consortium meeting in February, when the space was still completely empty, it is even more exciting to see it come to life now 💜

Tijdens ons bezoek aan @shiftleuven kregen we een kijkje in hoe zij jongeren op een creatieve en toegankelijke manier laten experimenteren met technologie, design en digitale tools. Van de werking achter de schermen tot de verschillende projecten en activiteiten. We hebben heel wat bijgeleerd over hoe je een plek creëert waar jongeren écht zelf aan de slag kunnen gaan en ook écht zichzelf kunnen zijn.💡 Een inspirerende plek waar creativiteit, technologie en ontmoeting samenkomen. The new makerspace in Budapest for the make-a-thek project turned out incredibly beautiful. ✨ The space creates such a special connection between the charm of the historic building and a modern makerspace full of creativity, innovation, and collaboration. Thoughtfully designed, beautifully decorated, and still so cozy and welcoming at the same time.
