🎉 Starting March 2nd! 🪚 Free, unstructured outdoor play in a stunning adventure playground. 💦 Join us every week during term-time for three hours of child-led exploration - Loose parts, open-ended art & craft, messy, sensory & water play, woodwork with real tools, den building, sandpit, swings, slides and some spectacular climbing structures. 📦 This is a space for children to play however they wish and for adults to connect with others in the community. We can’t wait to see you! Mondays (term-time) 12 - 3pm Drop-in, Free! All children must be accompanied by an adult. After over three years being a two woman operation we were excited to welcome new playworkers to our team last year! Here’s everyone you may have met! Kerri started playworking as a teenager at the holiday playscheme she grew up at and has since worked at after school clubs, adventure playgrounds, messy play groups, inclusive play settings with disabled and neurodivergent children and as a support worker for adults with learning disabilities. She has an NVQ in Playwork and an MA in Childhood and Youth, for which she conducted a research study with children at an adventure playground. Kerri also works for Woodland Tribe. Dom studied Linguistics at uni before working at a specialist school for children with communication difficulties. After hearing of the challenges families faced accessing play she moved to The Markfield Project where she specialised in inclusive play, youth participation, SEND family support work and spent 11 years running the adventure playground’s inclusive open access sessions. Dom is now SEN Lead for a national charity supporting families facing barriers to school attendance. Zareen works with us regularly at Somerford Grove, Abbey Gardens and The Phoenix Garden. A playworker and art facilitator with a background in youth work, Zareen runs workshops across London including Tiny Fridays sessions at the Mosaic Rooms and a play project with asylum seeking families. @panda_playworker worked at Kids Adventure Play, Play Association Tower Hamlets, led the Play in the Park project for the Royal Parks and recently returned from New Zealand where they worked for Junky Monkeys. Migs is a teacher, playworker and mural artist who worked for Brighton & Hove Playbus and Woodland Tribe and is now Educational Lead at outdoor nursery Little Forest Folk. Cristina is a nanny and for two years led a play project for the community living in the Grenfell Tower area. Sianead is manager of Homerton Grove Adventure Playground and runs the Sisterhood project at Somerford Grove Adventure Playground. Hannah is our third director. A long-time attendee of our sessions with her son and a fierce advocate of play, she provides us with invaluable insight and support.

Bring us your stuff! With new projects starting and well loved equipment reaching the end of its life after some intense play, we very much welcome your donations! The best loose parts are things that are salvaged and re-purposed, and second hand stuff is better for the planet all round. So please do think of us when you have a clear-out, when you regret having messy art stuff inside the house, when a new neighbour moves in with loads of packing boxes, or when you spot something interesting left out on the street. Here’s some examples of stuff we’d welcome: 🎨 🧶 📦 Cardboard boxes (especially BIG ones), art and craft supplies. ⛺️🎪 Fabric, sheets, old curtains. 🥣🥄 Mud kitchen items - pots, pans and utensils, real kitchen appliances like kettles, scales, coffee makers, microwaves. Small water butts, spades. ☎️⌨️💼 🎤 Household items, for example computer keyboards, telephones, typewriters, briefcases, handbags, picnic hampers. 🔨 🪚🪵 Tools, nails, wood off-cuts. 🪣🧱🪩🐚🛒🪜 Random things! Could be storage boxes, buckets, yoga blocks, gym balls, baby baths, shopping trolley frames, mannequins, acrylic mirrors, shelves, step stools, cot frames, guttering, wheels, tyres, crates, pallets, kitchen sinks, bathtubs. 💦 🥾 Spare clothes, waterproofs and wellies for messy play and rainy days. 🧸🧱🚜🦕🎾 Toy dinosaurs/animals, cars, dressing-up clothes, dump trucks/diggers, ride-ons, push toys, 🛝🏠🛁 Paddling pools, playhouses, garden play equipment, ball pool balls, play tents, mud kitchens. Basically ANYTHING you think has the potential to be played with in interesting ways! You can bring donations along to any of our sessions but if it’s something large you’ll need to give us a shout first to check if we have space for it. Some incredible loose parts building going on at our family stay & play at Somerford Grove. This water/ball run stretched for longer than could fit in one photo and was purely the work of a group of children (many who had just met each other) constructing and experimenting and refining for a happy three hours. A real mix of ages. Some very careful stacking, lifting and balancing going on! Much more stable than it looked! Ended in the sandpit where another group dug some kind of canal system.
