Fun fact, when I did the review in the DJI Inspire 3 (3 years ago now), the detachable gimbal that connected to the drone body had a different connector than what it does now. At the time It shared the same electronic connector as the Ronin 4D. This was likely do to the fact that it was a prototype and not the final form, and they borrowed the connector from the Ronin 4D for the time being. So in reality this does not work, despite the drone able to support the weight during flight , the firmware does not recognize this gimbal or sensor - so it’s mostly just on display - as a “what could have been” if DJI had rolled out what we all wished they had with the Inspire 3 - the ability to fly the same gimbal head as the Ronin 4D, and with it a whole list of light weight lenses. Though rumor has it, they were able to do a special firmware for a film project that required the inspire 3 8k gimbal camera head to work on the Ronin 4D - Flex head body …..but I have no credible sources to expand on that rumor currently. #wishfulthinking #inspire3 @dji
The DJI Osmo Pocket is so useful for many different things but there’s times where I wish you could lock the gimbal (an example is a car shot where you don’t want it tracking the cars movement and changing the angle)
@make.art.now has created a gimbal lock to solve this issue. Head to his profile to find links to this and a bunch of other custom 3D prints he cooked up in his lab
Disclaimer - it’s not designed to be used for long periods of time but for certain shots where you need realistic camera shake or no movement this is the only way with the Pocket 3.
This might be the least functional thing you can do to a camera. It looks great on a wall, but please please don’t get yourself killed. Stay inside with this one- just a paperweight. #murica #makeartnow
