Mainroad’s Fleet team held a Preventative Maintenance Workshop in the Lower Mainland to discuss strategies to optimize Mainroad Fleet Maintenance Practices!
Their goal? To provide safe, reliable, and cost-effective fleet solutions.
The workshop comprised of supervisors and managers from Cobra Electric Services, Mainroad North Island Contracting, Mainroad Mid-Island Contracting, Mainroad Alberta Contracting, Mainroad Lower Mainland Contracting, and Ontime Sales and Leasing.
Together, they signed-off on an agreement to continually better Mainroad’s fleet maintenance.
Each person in attendance got to voice their ideas and concerns, and the group worked together to brainstorm possibilities for the future.
A great opportunity all around!

Can’t beat crack-sealing under big, blue skies.
Keep your eyes peeled for Mainroad crews working roadside. Their safety is in your hands. Slow down and move over for flashing lights, and watch out for cones.
Thanks for helping us get home safe.

On #NationalDayofMourning we honor those who lost their lives, were injured, or became ill because of their work.
We honor their memory by strengthening our commitment to work together for safer workplaces. This day is a reminder to reflect on past tragedies and continue making meaningful strides to prevent them in the future. 🥀
Bridge washing is underway in the Lower Mainland!
Mainroad Fraser Maintenance is deep into spring cleaning right now, and bridge washing is on the list. Washing these structures helps maintain their integrity and keeps the travelling public safe.
Slow down and move over for roadside workers.

We’re kicking off spring safety days in Kelowna, BC!
On this bright and sunny day, Cobra Electric Interior crews went over skid steer training, high voltage safety, and lots of other useful things. There was also an opportunity for some practical training when a neighbouring business had an accident that Cobra staff quickly attended to.
This was one of the three planned training days across our different yards. Lots more to learn in the coming sessions!
Pop quiz: what is being practised in the first slide? ⚡️

You asked, we answered.
A new level of safety is coming to your highways next winter. Gone are the days where snow would fall and land on things. Now, with our brand-new snowcatcher, you won’t even have to see the white stuff on trees.
For centuries, when snow fell, you had to accept that some would fall on the road. Not anymore.
Salt, brine, and plowing are primitive compared to the snowcatcher.
We’re adding 40 of these bad boys to our fleet until we figure out a way to cover up the entirety of the sky.

Introducing the newest member of Mainroad Mid-Island Contracting’s fleet, the Ford F-150 Lightning! ⚡
We’re always looking for ways to be a little greener, so now we’re testing out some electric vehicles in our operations!
Many of our vehicles are required to idle to supply power to our safety lights, during traffic control operations, and during short-duration work on highways. The introduction of electric vehicles to our fleet will eliminate idling emissions, provide a long-lasting power source to run our lights, and also reduce maintenance costs associated with idling vehicles— an added bonus.
Plus, our civil contractor, G&E Contracting, installed the charging station you see our truck using in the last photo!
We’ll do some testing to see how these Lightnings hold up, and then we’ll decide if more EVs are in our future. 💪⚡

Students at Marysville Elementary School in Kimberley, BC are getting some added safety features to their crosswalk!
Mainroad East Kootenay Contracting partnered with the Ministry of Transportation and Transit to purchase two additional crosswalk signs with flashing lights. These signs are equipped with wheels on the bases so that crossing guards and other volunteers can easily deploy them during school hours.
These bright new signs will help alert motorists to the crosswalk and give an extra layer of protection to students.
Remember to slow down around school zones and watch out for pedestrians and cyclists. 🚸🏫

Happy St. Patrick’s Day! 🌈🍀
Keeping roadside workers safe isn’t luck— it’s intentional.
Watch out for our crews this St. Paddy’s Day. Slow down when you drive through a work zone.
And remember, plan a safe ride home if you’re celebrating today.
