Math teachers unit because we do need slope = rise/run.
Field Team Leaders "rocked" their first training hitch at Camden Hills State Park. MCC staff and Erin Amadon/Town4Trail Services provided top notch, hands-on instruction on topics including how to use griphoists, highlines, rock drills, rock bars, rise over run, staircase standards and more.

Our Field Team Leaders and MCC staff are officially WFR certified! Huge thanks to our instructor, Tony Simpson/Southpaw, for guiding us through the training and getting us ready for the season ahead. Feeling confident, prepared, and ready to keep everyone healthy and safe out there.

Spring training is in full swing! From running saws to practicing wound care with time to snap some family style photos at the AmeriCorps swearing-in ceremony in between action.
Both Field Team Leaders and Individual Placements dove into learning with third-party trainers, covering everything from mental health first aid and OSHA to conflict mediation, chainsaw safety, and wilderness first aid. Thank you to all our awesome trainers for passing on their knowledge and creating engaging lessons!

To wrap up pruning season, the Maine Forest Service and Maine Conservation Corps partnered with Bolduc Correctional Facility for a full day of learning and hands-on work in the facility’s apple orchard on April 6.
A team of 2 Maine Forest Service staff, 9 Maine Conservation Corps staff and members, 6 residents, and 9 facility staff came together to learn fruit tree pruning techniques and then applied those skills to almost 60 apple trees.
Participants asked excellent questions, shared observations, and showed real enthusiasm for building new skills. The energy, curiosity, and teamwork from everyone made this event a clear success and a meaningful step toward a healthier, more productive orchard at Bolduc.

The Maine winter hasn't slowed down our Community Tree Stewards from launching service projects for their local communities. Since January, they have been leading orchard pruning workshops, developing forest management plans, and tackling invasives species.
