Just wrapped a project with a new client that is working on some incredible technology, but a bit after we wrapped I snapped this photo on our way off the track, and it had me reflecting a little bit. I've actually been asked a lot lately, but everytime I am asked what my favorite system of ours is to work with, my answer is always our camera car and all of the many configurations that are possible when building out and prepping for this unique application.
Back when we first started the company, this thing was one of the very first major milestones that we set in place to one day own one ourselves. With many sacrifices, consistently applied strategies, and sleepless nights ahead, we got to work. Ultimately, that hard work, experimentation, collaboration, and the original vision that was all driving us forward brought us to finally obtaining our first crane, which for us was only the beginning. Instantly, so many new and fresh ideas quickly flooded our schedule, and we began to experiment as a team religiously. With four operating positions all coinciding at one time, efficient communication, trust, and a master approach to diligence are all required to safely and effectively pull off a successful sequence. A chain reaction of precision from the driver, to crane op, to head op, and ultimately to the pull of the focus wheel. When consistently practiced with the same people and with the same chain of events, you begin to gain a completely new understanding of the rhythm and how to properly add character to your part in the chain. It's obviously a massive team effort, but that's why it's my favorite because from a creative career standpoint, it is such an outlying form of collaboration taking place in some of the most uniquely intense situations, all at the same time in such a small window.
It's always been about and is about the team you have with you, so choose wisely and run like hell with them when you do 🤙
