Excited to announce our Record Store Day plans!
The doors open at 9am on Saturday, April 18th! We’ll follow our usual number system, with numbers getting passed out starting at 7:30am. Our website will have a full list of every title we will be carrying.
If you’re not planning on shopping for RSD titles, there’s still something for you! We’ll have a sidewalk sale with lots of marked down vinyl, and you can expect the shop to be fully stocked with great new and used vinyl. And our bud @bc.arson will have baked goods on hand!
Live music! Since we’ve got a smaller storefront this time around, our pals and neighbors at @pilsencommunitybooks are hosting music starting at 1pm! Catch @maciestewart , @floweringchicago , and @mail_chi !
More details still to come, so keep an eye peeled here and on our website!

We are thrilled to announce that the long-awaited debut record from our favorite four Chicago post-hardcore heads @mail_chi “What the Red Flare Meant” is releasing this Friday 1/16 on Bandcamp and YouTube exclusively. While the eight-track full-length is, on one hand, a beyond faithful homage to lost and found late ‘90s emo records by its avid admirers whose rare 7” collections alone could prove them some of the genres’ most encyclopedic historians, its biting lyricism, thorough compositions and ambitious, yet calculative performances allow it to transcend mere imitation and appear a new statute for the reawakened subgenre’s youthful advance.
Expect CDs for this exciting release (our first of 2026 😛) to be listed sometime in the next week or two, and in the meantime support these sweet boys in the early afternoon on Saturday 1/17 (conveniently the day after this record drops) at Chicago’s Several States festival, where you might be able to find some early physicals if you just can’t wait that long…
