Had the incredible honor of visiting NYC schools as part of the @lambdaliterary Writers in Schools program. The kids are deep and kind and smart as hell. Their teachers and librarians are giving them what they need to understand others and themselves. I wish to God it was like this in other places. It’s not radical to give kids hope and recognition, role models and ways to understand. 💜💜💜 more visits at the end of the month. I can’t wait.
Another amazing school visit with @lambdaliterary 💜💜💜 This time for FIREBLOOMS at @francis_lewis_high_school - there were cookies, stickers, writing (and drawing) prompts and wild gesticulating (me) a good time with fiendishly clever, creative and big hearted teens. Shout out to library teacher Tina (and all the librarians!) for making me feel so welcome!
