the throwing process for a set of 3 vases with openings that progressively grow wider 🏺
was so happy to be touching clay again after a month of not doing so! this set was then decorated with slug after trimming, with the idea of it being a sort of pod from which the creature emerges. just waiting for it to be fired now!! ❤️🔥
photos i forgot to post! made this slug vase back in february 🐌 and i now have a decent photo of myself with my work 🫶
thank u @dingus.sans and @carmen.cici 📷📷📷📷📷
bowl!!!! this form has become one of my staples to make for myself,, having the waist become very round and bulbous then closing it back in with a hug at the top. a similar bowl i made recently (but still have not taken photos of hahaha) works so well for rice, the form naturally keeps it warm for a long time!!! round is the best shape 🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚🍚
a trio of round jars
round, circular forms will always draw me in. the fullness of something round is both grand yet comforting. it could be a big, echoing cave or a humble embrace. a flared rim on top then projects the feeling to the outside world.
white stoneware with matte white glaze
slug on a vase
a short vase and sculpted slug, all made of white japanese stoneware. my affinity for slugs continues as they always remind me to take it slow and relish in every detail as they come, something that should forever remain in the practice of ceramics. i will continue to spawn more slugs and have them appear more in my next works. 🐌🫶
made this for my bestfriend and her partner!
am also open to commissions of this piece or anything i posted before,, just a message away ❤️
ancient gate bud vase
freehand painted on this gate pattern with wax, leaving an almost burnt, unglazed impression. i love how it makes the vase look like a mini temple ❤️🔥
*cue the gate by caroline polachek*
the pearl onion
made this bud vase while missing the experience of cooking with white onion! thrown on the wheel, patiently getting the neck skinny and tall. 🧅
glazed with an opal glaze from bumi and ashe 🫶
slug salt bowls
the irony of having a slug in your salt bowl!!! these bowls are handbuilt and embellished with creatures i am very envious of! how i wish i could live slowly and eat mushrooms on a forest floor. i have grown so fond of sculpting these slugs and will continue to post more work featuring them. they come out so cool with their glaze interactions 🐌
would love to make these for people if you would want to pre-order/commission 🫶
blue river cups
small cups for coffee or any drink; made these thinking that a shining blue river is a fit setting for a magical pilgrimage ❤️🔥
made 5 of these, 4 of which are given to besties! hand painted with blue underglaze, then glazed the rest of the body with a floating iron glaze.
starlight bottle
a big bottle meant to be used for oil or vinegar; or can be used as a bud vase. ✨
glazed with a floating iron glaze, then splattered with an opal glaze (made in house in bumi and ashe!) the interactions came out really good!
happy new year!!! 2022 = year of discovering ceramics and never escaping the captivating pull of clay!!!!!!! being able to work as a potter made this year so much more substantial 🫶will share newest works in a few! 🐌
