🌷Finally finished my shape book with the help of my beloved little one. And my grandmother’s spirit that showed up when I took a recent trip to Philly to @moaphilly and visited my dad’s childhood home. I was inspired by her handwritten recipes and a water deposit certificate from 1935 that was tucked inside her standard issue Domestic Science textbook.
I’m so inspired by what a silhouette or a moment can contain and how we preserve that.

🐍Lotta mileage out of this snake vase (thank you @nightteachermusic 👏). The week almost got by me, but managed to get into some paint for my @pigeontopflowers collab. While I’ll never truly capture the iridescence of these petals, trying was fun.

🌺Spring in Wilmington. Painting in the gardens at the @cityclub_wilmington and catching some sea mist with my little one was a dream of alternate timelines combining. I’m so lucky she wants to paint with me and her contributions always remind me to loosen up.
Shoutout to the clowns at the azalea festival who made us two purple balloon dogs when the first met an untimely demise. It made it into our festival zine.

🌊La Mer. The ocean holds so many colors within one body. How does it foam and crash white in thick rows and break apart into a thin veil? The shallow pushes a rough edge as far as it can for a moment - then retract, swell, repeat. I lived here for ten years. 💙

One day you take a rainy walk with your toddler in your regular park and they lean so far over to look in a puddle reflecting the sky that then they dip their head in. And a few years later they give you a magic green glass stone and you start to make a shape book about the magic glass stone but where it takes you is actual back to the rain walk. And what you now know is this is the happiest you’ll ever be. And the magic stone was meant to take you there.
Really loved making this during my bookmaking retreat with Margaux and Deb at Highlights. Maybe my favorite thing ever. I ain’t good for much but whimsy, so here you go!
