Out now on Magic Door!
We’re excited to welcome Julia Greenberg to the Magic Door family with “Leaves,” the first single from her forthcoming EP, Born Sentimental, available everywhere on June 11th on Magic Door.
Written in the quiet aftermath of personal loss, “Leaves” is a haunting and graceful meditation on letting go — a reminder that some seasons simply can’t be held.
Recorded live at Chrometop Studios and co-produced by @jgreenb709 and @bobperrymusic the track carries a raw, lived-in chemistry — a beautiful intersection of alt-country grit and the timeless language of American Standards. Mastered by @rayketchem at @magicdoorrecording
Available as a Bandcamp exclusive today, listen to “Leaves” now & Pre-order Born Sentimental:

OUT TODAY ON MAGIC DOOR! @thedambuilders revisit one of their most beloved songs with a newly re-recorded 2026 version of “Shrine,” a standout single from their 1994 album Encendedor. A defining track of the ‘90s indie rock landscape—blending jagged guitar pop with the band’s signature violin textures—“Shrine” captured a cross-cultural indie-rock love story that helped the band break into wider audiences and earn Modern Rock chart and MTV 120 Minutes success.
“Shrine 2026” features original members @davederby (bass/vocals), @kevindmarch (drums/vocals) as well as newer members @_seaneden_ (Luna) and @chopes26 (Bright Eyes, Dexys). @douggillard from Guided by Voices also contributed guitar to the track.
On the flip side: “I Hope We’re Not Too Late,” was recorded during the same sessions - written by Derby, March, Chopek, and Eden, demonstrating the Dambuilders’ career-long flair for collaboration and improvisation, bringing the voices of all new and original Dambuilders to the fore. March brought the initial sketch of the song to the band, who turned it into an epic, future classic about navigating the past and its connection to the present and future. In the plaintive rideout, the band asks: “Can we be that sure of where the road is supposed to go?/Can we disconnect the past? We’ve walked this path before. The song features backing vocals by @reneelobue (Elk City).
Catch The Dambuilders live on April 24th at NYC’s Mercury Lounge and April 25th at Myrtle in East Providence, RI.

Her Favorite Disguise by The Melancholy Kings — streaming everywhere and available on vinyl.
From the opening jangle-pop of “Six Feet Down” to the wistful pull of “Kensington,” the album moves between sharp hooks and deeper emotional currents. “Bitcoin Elegy” pulses with urgency, while “Astor Place” and “UV” drift into dreamier, layered territory. And yes — there’s even a standout cover of Guided By Voices’ “Alex Bell.”
Mike Potenza, Scott Selig, Peter Horvath, and Paul Andrew make melodic rock that’s textured, cinematic, and a true headphone turner — with additional performances from Mac Gollehon (trumpet), Carolyn Jeselsohn (cello), Carl Riehl (accordion), Olivia Selig (vocals), Ray Ketchem (percussion), and Renée LoBue (vocals).
Recorded, mixed, and mastered by Ray Ketchem at Magic Door Recording, The Big Takeover’s Dave Franklin writes:
“I’m not sure what they put in the water in New Jersey, but this is the latest in a long line of impressive releases from producer/engineer Ray Ketchem at Magic Door Recording Studio. He might have the creative equivalent of the Fountain of Youth in the studio’s backyard, though I suspect the reality is that he is just good at his job. Damned good!”
