Nu har konstnärerna Ieva Saulite, Marja-Leena Sillanpää och Tova Lilja & Emil Faisal Hasselberg lämnat Örebro för den här gången. De har alla gjort residens hos oss i en månad och påbörjat att producera sina konstverk till OPENART 2026. Alla konstnärerna har haft workshops med olika grupper i Nikolaikyrkan, där deltagarna på olika sätt fått medverka till verken som konstnärerna kommer visa under OPENART 2026 som invigs lördag den 13 juni. Residensperioden avslutades med en inspirerande open studio, där intresserade deltagare samlades för att möta konstnärerna, lyssna till presentationer, se deras verk på plats i verkstaden, lära sig mer om Magic Carpets, äta tillsammans och nätverka. They have all spent a month with us in residence and begun producing their artworks for OPENART 2026. All of the artists have held workshops with different groups from Church Nikolai, where participants have contributed to the artworks that the artists will present during OPENART 2026, which opens on Saturday, June 13. The residency period concluded with an inspiring open studio, where participants gathered to meet the artists, listen to presentations, see their works in progress in the workshop, learn more about Magic Carpets, share some food and network with each other. ✨ [PL below] After long deliberations, we are delighted to announce that Marilyne Grimmer has been selected from more than 100 aplicants in our OPEN CALL for this year’s Magic Carpets residency in Wrocław. ⚪ Marilyne is a visual artist and scenographer whose practice brings together storytelling, participation, and site-specific work. Her projects explore the emotional and cultural connections we form through objects — the small things we carry with us that hold memories of places, people, and belonging. 🇰🇷 For her residency in Wrocław, she will work with members of the Korean community, focusing on personal objects and the stories they embody. Through conversations and workshops, she will collaboratively build a shared collection that reflects identity, memory, and everyday life across cultures. 🩷 We would like to warmly congratulate Marilyne and thank all the artists who applied for this year’s open call. ✨ Atskats uz darbnīcu “Iekļaujoša dejas prakse” Paldies visiem dalībniekiem par klātbūtni, atvērtību un kopradīšanu! 💛 Šajās dienās kopā ar Greta Pieropan un Roberto Casarotto iepazinām iekļaujošas pieejas darbā ar kustību, improvizāciju un ķermeņa apzināšanos. Dalījāmies pieredzē, pētījām “soft skills” nozīmi dejas praksē un radījām horeogrāfiskas partitūras gan individuāli, gan kopā. Sedan början av februari har vi haft konstnären Marja-Leena Sillanpää hos oss på konstnärsresidens genom Magic Carpets. Inför OpenArt 2026 arbetar hon med ett verk i flera delar bestående av en installation, ett ljudverk och nio stavar som aktiveras i ett performance. Utgångspunkten är att ta plats med minimal påverkan på naturen – det som syns lånas och återlämnas efter sommaren. Tillsammans med kyrkokören VOX, en kör med unga kvinnor, från Nikolaikyrkan har Marja-Leena velat tillföra ett ljud till verket: – Tanken var att komponera ett lågmält stycke med undertoner av allvar, på gränsen till illavarslande. Men när jag var med på körens repetitioner blev jag kraftigt berörd av de klara rösterna. Dessa unga röster i sin tur ledde vidare till att ta hjälp av äldre kvinnliga konstnärskollegor som värnar naturen, med en avslutande sorgeprocession. Sorgeprocessionen kommer äga rum på utställningens sista dag, den 6 september och utgå från Nikolaikyrkan. Med verket vill Marja-Leena skapa utrymme för eftertanke och visa hur sorg behöver sin plats – och hur närvaro i sorgen också öppnar för tröst. Foto: Openart 🇬🇧 During February and March, we have hosted the artist Marja-Leena Sillanpää @marjaleena.sillanpaa in a residency through Magic Carpets. In preparation for OpenArt 2026, she is working on an artwork in several pieces - an installation, a sound work, and nine staffs that will also be activated through a performance. The starting point is to take space with minimal impact on nature – what becomes visible is borrowed and returned again. Together with the church choir VOX, a choir of young women from Nikolaikyrkan, Marja-Leena wanted to add a sound element: - The idea was to compose a subdued piece with undertones of seriousness, bordering on foreboding. But when I attended the choir’s rehearsals, I was deeply moved by their clear voices. Together with female artist colleagues the nine staffs will be culminating in a final mourning procession. The procession will take place on the last day of the exhibition, Sept 6. 🟢 The residency is held by OPENART for @creative.eu Creative Europe platform @magiccarpets.eu using funds by the E.U.

Open Call for emerging artists Residencies 2026 at @jamfactory.artcenter We invite artists to apply for a community art residency exploring how a sense of home can be rebuilt in the context of displacement caused by the ongoing war in Ukraine.
