I'm still on a hiatus but I was scrolling through my photo gallery on my lunch break and realized I'm the only one of us to forget to post our favorite selfie from our big Amphibia project shoot. ๐๐๐ I'm so grateful for this show and this cosplay project. It brought me closer to
@feelsbender and
@han_yuleum and we got to all work together and celebrate our Asianess. I'm so grateful to these two for helping me so much this year and for accepting me for all my autistic spacing out and constant Bob's Burgers references. I just felt so incredibly lucky to have friends like these and to work on a huge project for such an important show to the AAPI cartoon fandom. Each one of us sees ourselves represented by each one of the Calamity trio. ๐๐๐ We had so much fun celebrating these characters and our heritage. We also chose to use lots of fabrics from
@cosplayfabrics , the fabric line created by the great
@yayahan herself, who is a huge inspiration to the AAPI cosplay community. I'm so glad a show like Amphibia exists to help inspire so many, especially AAPI youth. Representation in media is powerful. I'm in my mid20s, and Amphibia is the first time I ever saw true Slavic SWANA Wasian representation in a TV show. I literally cried when I saw Sasha's parents in Marcy's journal - her mother Slavic white and her dad light brown and blue-eyed, clearly SWANA. I'm so grateful Wasian youth are going to have characters like Sasha, Marinette, and The Belchers to look up to. Thank you again
@radrappy for creating such an amazing show. ๐๐๐
