Welcome to the fascinating, multidimensional work of artist Nick Phillips @symbolic.space.exploration whose work is on show within Vestry Cafe until 7 June. His work explores our ability to inhabit two separate worlds simultaneously - the personal, private world of the subjective and the objective, public one ruled by physics.
Nick is fascinated by magic; offering a way of connecting these two separate dimensions, with the aim of making paintings that embody magical power.
Nick grew up in Bath before moving to London to study psychology. He fell in with a couple of pop video directors and tried to make films for a while. Ending up in Gloucestershire (and disillusioned with the film industry) he started to pour his creativity into painting and undertook an MA in Fine Arts at the University of Gloucestershire.
