This weekend was pure magic. Scratchy and I visited the Center Puppetry Arts @ctr_puppetry_arts and the Atlanta Botanical Garden @atlbotanical with @faenorfiremind@iamtheferalqueen@christinekaramol@love._.phoenix
We got to dive into the mind and heart of Jim Henson and crew behind the Labyrinth, sesame street, the muppets, fraggle rock, and dark crystal.
I am super and inspired and in joy.
Enjoy.

We inherit a worldview the way we inherit language, through repetition, immersion, and cultural conditioning(not always a bad thing). It becomes so familiar that it dissolves into the background, shaping perception without ever being questioned. These patterns are reinforced until they form a kind of collective groove, one we move within unconsciously, often using the same words to repeat the same story.
To reclaim sovereignty over our story, to realign with our individual agency in the collective experience.
The current collective worldview (or more specifically the one of the modern US citizen) has been constructed, maintained, and therefore is eligible for transformation.
Yet with so much going on in a rapid pace world, where even should we begin?
One starting point I particularly enjoy is the creation of a new lexicon. Not just new language for the sake of novelty, but intentional symbols and phrasing that allow us to relate, communicate, and perceive from a place that is consciously chosen rather than inherited. Sense making through collective collaboration.
In a time marked by division and distortion, expanding our lexicon becomes an act of agency. It opens pathways beyond the conditioned narrative and invites new ways of being into existence. We are not confined to the patterns we were given. We can reshape them, rearticulate them, and in doing so, begin to perceive and participate in reality with greater depth and clarity.

I’ve found it amusing to watch tech bros attempt to replace their team with AI
as if lived experience and technical expertise can be replaced by regurgitated data sets of the uninspired
as if the years it takes to become precise
could be skipped in favor of something faster
and for a moment, it works
until those that preach to be on the cutting edge of technology realize
that it takes skilled professionals who have dedicated their lives
to understanding how the system works
to actually operate that system
no hands that remember
no ear for nuance
no operator who has earned their instincts through repetition and failure
just software, rearranging fragments of what was once alive
AI can assist
it can accelerate
but it can only mirror what it has been shown
but it cannot embody the path it never walked
writing prompts is its own art form
but many do not even take the time to craft
many do not even take the time to develop that skill themselves
without intention, without depth, without presence
it becomes another layer of imitation
beneath all of this is something undeniable
the regurgitated data sets are trained on echoes of those who have done the work
those who have struggled, refined, created, and transmitted something real
this goes to all of the creators
I hope that you see past self-limiting beliefs and imposter syndrome
to understand that your art is important
your art matters
it needs origin
it needs people willing to move beyond self-doubt
and to offer what is alive and real within them in an authentic way
we are not here to compete with the machine
we are the inspiration that keeps this thing going

Join us on Sunday, March 15 for a globally inspired morning of movement with GLOBEWEAVER.
Born from a meditation in the jungles of Costa Rica and inspired by the golden web of an orb-weaver spider, Globeweaver is the multi-genre project of Nashville-based artist Mage. His sets weave world music and cultural songs gathered through travel with hip-hop, bass, and the rhythms of home. Music becomes a bridge between cultures — connecting bodies and communities through shared rhythm.
Our grounded and present host Lex Sterling Held will be holding the container for this gathering. We begin at 10:30am sharp. See the link in bio for event details and tickets.
