For Institute of Hearts 2026, Mafic Ocean created a large-scale projection piece in Regis Court featuring original photographs of romantic partners and macro cinematography of evolving textures, processed into strange, abstracted forms where bodies and faces remain visible but are rendered unfamiliar. Flooded with color and cycling continuously throughout the evening, the piece is passionate, surreal, and sacred.

@embalmingeva is one of the most exciting artists in their genre.
@iosisdrone and @cellojacq (Jaqueline Ultan) are two masters of their craft who will be combining forces for the first time in a truly special collaboration.
@roe_floral is a flower artist who creates stunning arbors and floral arrangements and will be lending her talents to the stage design and in a guest workshop.
Joshua Goodwin is a psychotherapist whose long history with black metal and other dark-tinged art forms make him uniquely suited to delve into what makes people so attracted to the dark side.

While the exhibition celebrates the macabre works of renowned artists like Piranesi, Goya, and Blake, the event features contemporary musicians, thinkers, and makers who play with similar grim thrills in their work.

On Thursday Nov 7th I’ll be doing a very special improv set with master cellist Jacqueline Ultan in Regis Court at Minneapolis Institute of Art as part of an activation of the museum space centered around the Dark Visions exhibit.
There will also be a set by Duluth dark synth duo Embalming Eva, workshops and discussions, as well as the Dark Visions exhibit itself for all your dark and gothic fantasies.
Music starts at 6:00 and the event is free and open to all.
