Nie te proste, nie ideologiczne. Raczej te, które drgają pod skórą – o ciało i obecność, o siłę, która potrafi być zarówno opiekuńcza, jak i destrukcyjna. Fotografie srebrowe stają się punktem spotkania – z moimi zapiskami oraz z tekstem Łukasza Orbitowskiego, który dopowiada, komentuje, otwiera kolejne sensy. „Dwa stare konie robiły durne, chłopackie rzeczy. Robienie głupot czasem wynika z mądrości. (…) Do tego chyba tak naprawdę służy sztuka – jest jak kamień obrośnięty mchem, jak stara ryba obklejona przez muszle. (…) Są w życiu rzeczy ulotne, których nie sposób opisać. I asked them to struggle. To hold, resist — no roles, no instructions. I wanted to see the tension between two bodies. Before they started, they looked at each other and silently played rock–paper–scissors. To decide who would go lower. Who would yield. That simple gesture wasn’t planned, but it opened something. Not the action — the moment before. Not a decision — but a quiet agreement to let the game decide who would take control, and who would give it up. O fizyczny uścisk, przeciąganie się — bez roli, bez instrukcji. Chciałem zobaczyć napięcie między ciałami. Zanim zaczęli, spojrzeli na siebie i bez słowa zagrali w papier–kamień–nożyce. Żeby ustalić, który będzie niżej. Który się podda. Ten prosty gest nie był zaplanowany, ale coś otworzył. Nie działanie, tylko moment tuż przed. Nie decyzja — lecz cicha zgoda, by pozwolić grze zdecydować, kto przejmie kontrolę, a kto ją odda. I wanted to capture a moment that is about male glancing, a bit of voyeurism in a completely ordinary, non-erotic, everyday situation. She is standing and leaning, maybe choosing what to wear, maybe just changing clothes or looking at herself in the mirror without posing. The shape of her hips is clean, like a flower vase. Instead of flowers, hands—human, unique. During a short exhibition in Krakow, it turned out that there are also other interpretations, some of them similar. But, for example, one of the ladies asked me whose hands these are? Pan ramiarz mówi, że to może się nie udać. Że wycinanie ma to do siebie, że trzeba się liczyć z błędem. Nie pomyślałem o tym, mam tylko trzy sztuki. Mówi to, trzymając delikatnie karton. Wystawa jest pojutrze. A on nie może dać gwarancji, że się uda. Zdarza się , że nóż zejdzie, że coś się postrzępi. Ta tektura również jest inna, niż te standardowe, fotografia też ma swoją grubość. Mogą wyjść zadziory. On nie może dać gwarancji. Niech się zastanowię, może ktoś inny to zrobi. Wychodzę, wracam, po chwili. Zaryzykujmy. Spojrzenie ma przeszywające, mądre i spokój z niego paruje. Patrzę głównie albo za niego, albo w lastriko na podłodze. Tnie, czekam za ścianą nie patrząc na to co robi, trochę jak na porodówce, albo w poczekalni wojewódzkiego ośrodka ruchu drogowego. Czy się uda? minuty w godziny i tak dalej. Już, tak wyszło. -Wyśmienicie! nie mogło być lepiej. Mruczy, że może w tym rogu delikatna krzywizna. To nie ma znaczenia - odpowiadam. Pytam - ile płacę. Uratował mnie Pan. Mówi, że nic, że to drobiazg. Fajnie, że się udało. Nie ma o czym mówić. Niech Pan weźmie jeszcze ten środek. PL @maetwu Mateusz Woźniak (ur. 1992) jest artystą wizualnym. Ukończył studia na Wydziale Malarstwa Akademii Sztuk Pięknych w Krakowie, gdzie w 2022 roku obronił dyplom pod kierunkiem prof. Andrzeja Bednarczyka. Pracuje z fotografią, tekstem i dźwiękiem, traktując je jako narzędzia do rejestrowania i strukturyzowania rzeczywistości. Zamiast podążać za jednym stylem, interesuje go sposób, w jaki różne formy mogą się ze sobą zderzać i uzupełniać. Jego prace oscylują między dokumentem a intymnym zapisem, poszukując języka, który pozostawia przestrzeń dla tego, co nie da się w pełni opisać. Fotografia staje się czasem punktem wyjścia, innym razem śladem czegoś, czego inaczej nie dałoby się uchwycić. Jego prace znajdują się w kolekcjach prywatnych, a także były prezentowane na wystawach indywidualnych i zbiorowych. He graduated from the Faculty of Painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, where in 2022 he received his diploma under the supervision of Professor Andrzej Bednarczyk. He works with photography, text, and sound, treating them as tools for recording and structuring reality. Rather than following a single style, he explores how different forms can collide and complement one another. His works oscillate between documentary and intimate record, searching for a language that leaves space for what cannot be fully expressed. Photography sometimes becomes a starting point, and at other times a trace of something that could not be captured otherwise. His works are held in private collections and have been exhibited both individually and collectively. The silver-gelatin photographs of Mateusz Woźniak meet his own writing and the voice of Łukasz Orbitowski, creating a story of closeness and tension, fragility and endurance. “Two old horses doing foolish, boyish things. Sometimes doing something stupid comes from wisdom. […] Perhaps this is what art is really for — like a stone overgrown with moss, like an old fish encrusted with shells. At some point it ceases to be about itself and becomes about what gathers around it. After all, had it not been for the invitation to write a curatorial text, there would have been no trips at all. You’re asking me about the scent drifting through the exhibition. We created it with @pawelwylag , a true virtuoso in this field. Some of you might have already experienced it at the show in Kraków. How did it come to life? A few months ago, we met to talk about my notes for stories and wandered together through scent associations. We chose the notes to awaken another sense within the exhibition space. Stepping into brittle thickets, into rotting greens, into damp earthiness. And you — what do you feel? ________ Pytacie mnie o zapach unoszący się na ekspozycji. Zrobiliśmy go z @pawelwylag , który jest wirtuozem w tej dziedzinie. Mogliście poczuć ten zapach już na wystawie w Krakowie. A jak powstał? Spotkaliśmy się kilka miesięcy temu rozmawiając o moich notatkach do opowiadań i wspólnie podróżując w skojarzenia węchowe. Dobraliśmy nuty w ten sposób, by stworzyć przestrzeń pobudzającą kolejny zmysł na ekspozycji. Wchodzenie w zasuszone krzaki, zgniłe zielenie i mokrą ziemistość.
