Meet Our 𝘳𝘦𝘤𝘦𝘴𝘴 Workshop Instructor Mads Davis
Mads Davis (they/them) is a fiber artist blending fashion, textile craft, and sustainability. Originally trained at SCAD (2018), they moved to NYC and interned with Telfar and Vaquera before shifting away from fast fashion toward a slower, more personal art practice.
Grounded in patternmaking and sewing, Davis combines tailoring with textile work to explore human connection, gender transition, and labor. Using deadstock and donated materials, they transform textile waste into soft sculptures called “Buddies,” filled with recycled fibers produced in Brooklyn.
Date: May 17
Time: 6:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Location: Playground: 1114 Bedford Ave, Brooklyn
Cost: $65

Sachet Buddy
Learn hand-stitching and soft-object construction using recycled materials. Create a small plushie that doubles as a pocket sachet for aromatherapy—choose calming lavender or clarifying eucalyptus. Each piece is unique, serving as both a tactile object and a tool for self-soothing.
This slow-paced, beginner-friendly workshop requires no machine. All materials are provided, encouraging a thoughtful, hands-on process. The space supports both quiet focus and connection, emphasizing creativity over consumption.
You’ll leave with a handmade companion, foundational sewing skills, and a deeper appreciation for intentional making.
