Gig announcement - I'll be supporting Thrashatouille on their album tour in Shrewsbury on July 26th with Biomech! Thrashtouille has been a band Mad Spanner have shared the stage with since the early years so it's a huge pleasure to help get the party started. For this occasion, Dan Ashley will be joining me onstage back on guitar for the Life Absurd material so come on down for the mini-reunion!
Due to popular demand and an upcoming album release, we are thrilled to announce the return of Thrashatouille! No stranger to Shrewsbury since the early days of BTL back in 2019, Thrashatouille have gone from strength to strength entertaining audiences across the country with their unique proposition in the metal underground....CHEF METAL! That's right, the set-list could read as a heavy metal recipe but their music masterfully covers so many sub-genres with infectious glee. All ready to showcase their debut album with their already well-established headline show, Thrashatouille are set to bring one hell of a party. Bon Apetite!
Joining Thrashatouille's run of album launch shows, we have Biomech as main support with their concrete blend of core elements with some absolutely gnarly beatdowns. For their sheer seismic sludge, they're the band bringing the heaviness on the night. As for sheer speed and physical spectacle, Mad Spanner will be opening the night with another frenzied display for the Shrewsbury crowd, only this time with some surprise guests...
Mark it in your calendars and spread the word - Albert's Shed, Sunday July 27th at 7pm is where all things heavy lies in Shrewsbury. And it's FREE ENTRY!! See you all there!

Gig announcement! I'll be playing my debut show in Newtown at Vesna Newtown with Andy Patton and the boys in Punk Rock Jukebox next month on the 13th! I've had some wicked times in Newtown and I look forward to meeting friends both new and old! The week after that I'll be going absolutely crazy in Liverpool for the Metal 2 The Masses Merseyside so don't miss that if you're in the area!
I'm also playing piano later this month as part of the Borth arts festival, so come and say hi if you're around! It'll be Phillip Glass, so expect less jumping off tables for meditative poly-rhythmic arpeggios instead.
May 24th: Borth, Phillip Glass Recital (Victoria Inn) πΉ

GIG ANNOUNCEMENT!
I will be returning to Liverpool to compete at the M2TM this year! I'll be sharing the stage with White Lightning, Seven Days Dead & False Monarch on June the 9th with a mystery headliner to be announced! I can't wait to get back on the stage, especially for Liverpool's vibrant scene...it's going to be mental!
See you there!
Sisyphus Happy is 2 years old today! It was the first album released as a solo act which both developed the existentialist themes while adding new rhythm changes and time signatures into the mix. Since, these songs have been showcased at 37 shows across England and Wales, including new set staples such as 'Prison Of Convenience', 'Batty Off The Chain' & 'One Must Imagine'
What is your favorite track from the album? π€ππ
It's been a couple of days mourning the death of Ozzy, while celebrating his career by constantly playing Sabbath/Ozzy through the pub speakers when I'm working. So much has been said about his undeniable contribution to the musical landscape and his influence over decades of heavy music. I can't imagine a world without Sabbath, but it'd probably involve a lot more desk jobs.
I love Sabbath and Ozzys music, but I also really admired Ozzy as a clown, and I mean that with great respect. A natural showman, an entertainer, a peoples servant. He never put himself above the audience and stayed humble right to the end. He had so much heart, authenticity and enjoyed putting smiles on peoples faces. He genuinely loved his audience and we loved him too.
I'll leave two quotes that stuck with me and directly influenced me on a personal level:
"I don't care if they're laughing with me or at me. As long as they're laughing, I don't give a fuck"
"You've gotta believe in yourself or no-one will believe in you"
RIP Ozzy
Thank you Borth Carnival and the Star & The Sea community for having me perform my last Sisyphus Happy show! It's always a bit nerve wracking playing for a hall full of people unaccustomed to extreme metal, I expected a mini-exodus out of the venue but the audience was amazing and I had a great laugh giving you all a show. So much space onstage to work with and tables to jump from, I had an absolute blast! I also had the pleasure of filling in on short notice for Pompeii Strasse, which went down a treat and got people dancing into the night! I'll have some unsuprising news later, but for now, thanks for such a memorable show at home!
