San Isidro siempre me hace pensar en Madrid. En el Madrid que vivieron mis abuelos, y también en el Madrid en el que crecí yo. En las calles con vecinos en la puerta, los bares de toda la vida y esa forma tan nuestra de vivir la ciudad. Mi abuelo nació en 1923 y creció en La Latina, en ese Madrid castizo que todavía sobrevive en algunas esquinas. Supongo que parte de mi manera de entender la ciudad viene de ahí. Y aunque hoy viva en Bélgica, hay algo de Madrid que sigue dentro de mí todos los días. De hecho, irme fuera ha hecho que me sienta todavía más madrileño. Porque cuando estás lejos entiendes que Madrid no es solo un lugar. Es una manera de hablar, de quedar tarde, de discutir en un bar, de vivir la calle. Es una identidad. Y quizás por eso me preocupa verla cambiar tan rápido. Que pierda sus bares, sus vecinos, sus historias y esa personalidad tan difícil de explicar pero tan fácil de reconocer. Supongo que hacerse mayor también es esto: mirar tu ciudad con nostalgia y querer proteger lo que la hizo especial. Feliz San Isidro.
