There’s something electric about watching artists step into their confidence.
Spent a day in studio with the Piccolo Gallery, capturing artists alongside the work they’ve poured themselves into. The conversations alone were worth it. Hearing them talk about their process, what drives them, the stories behind each piece.
You can see it in their faces when they realize how powerful they look standing next to their art. That shift from hesitant to owning it completely. That’s the moment I’m always chasing.
Every artist brought something different. Different energy, different stories, different ways of showing up. But the common thread? Pure creative fire.
Days like this remind me why I love what I do. It’s not just about the photos. It’s about creating space for people to be seen the way they deserve to be seen. @thepiccologallery
When you don’t plan ahead… it doesn’t take a crystal ball to see how it’s going to go.
Scrambling happens sometimes. We’ve all been there. But if I’m being honest, last-minute requests used to stress me out a lot more than I ever let on.
For a LONG time I would drop everything and try to patch things together just because someone asked. and last minute requests are never something you can delegate. There's no time to brief. I didn’t know how to say no. I just wanted to keep everyone happy. And I usually pulled it off! But it came at a cost. And not one that lead to me actually making more.
The truth is it meant less sleep, less strategy, and work that I wasn’t always proud of because I knew that with some time and more discussions, it could have been great. When everything is rushed, intention goes out the window and that’s not how good creative work happens.
At the beginning of this year I made a decision to actively change that. We now plan projects in advance, work on retainers, and build proper timelines so every client actually gets the attention their work deserves. And I’m learning to say no. Or say we're available in x amount of days to begin that project.
Don’t get me wrong, it’s still HARD for me to say no sometimes. I genuinely want every client to succeed. But I’ve also learned that “protecting my peace” (thanks @lifeinstylewithkim ) and protecting the quality of our work our lives has to come first.
