One for the memory books 🥹🏆
@thetraka 560 was my first ever ultra race. With a stacked startlist, I don’t think many expected me to be crossing that finish line 1st. (In fact, I wasn’t on the pre race favourites list!)
Behind the scenes I’ve had my eye on this race as something I was really keen to give a proper whack at. I had a plan, and every element of that plan came together…and in fact I was even faster than planned!
I didn’t want to love it, but the feeling of flow state when I got into my rhythm alone on the gravel was truly magical. I might not be an ultra girly just yet, but maybe I’ll have to dip my toes in again.

@maddy_nutty recently won the The Traka Adventure - a 560km ultra-endurance race held in Girona, Spain - one of Europe’s most prestigious gravel races.
Maddy completed the 560km course (9500m elevation) in an incredible time of 26hrs 31mins - an hour ahead of the next woman and breaking the course record by 2.5hrs.
Out of an elapsed time of 26hrs 31mins, Maddy was moving for 26hrs 03mins. After the race Maddy said that there was “only 3 wees and 5 water stops 🤣 I refrained from faffing”

Your reminder to do what fills you with joy regardless of others opinions! I only started cycling when I was 20… I quit a good job at an investment bank to earn zero money racing a bike at 23, but it was the thing that brought me the MOST joy and happiness. I worked hard on the side to make the money side of things work. I put in the graft and hours training to make myself a better athlete, and reach a point where I could make cycling my job.
Crossing @thetraka finish line winning the 560 race (at 28) was an amalgamation of all of this work. I made plenty of sacrifices, but that finish line feeling made it all worth it!

@maddy_nutty just made her mark on ultra-cycling in her very first attempt.
Last weekend she signed up for @thetraka 560, after completing the 360 the previous three years.
This year she lined up against a stacked field for 560km of Gironia which a goal in mind — to beat the previous record.
Whether that effort was good enough to win the event wouldn’t be known until she crossed the finish line.
Amid a lot of conversations surrounding this years Traka, Maddy’s stands out as something worth celebrating - a new FKT!
