I was blessed enough to celebrate freedom day in Lisbon this year for the first time- love and passion and music and beautiful community flooded the streets in ways I can’t begin to express. So I just existed and photographed moments I felt the energy of this day flow through me 💌
April 25, 1974, military forces marched in Lisbon to overthrow the dictatorship.
Known as the “Carnation Revolution” because protesters placed red carnations into the muzzles of soldiers’ guns and on their uniforms, highlighting the peaceful nature of the uprising. ♥️
people carry red carnations in honor, wear red, make signs, locals make crochet carnations as crafts to sell, and whatever way they want to express themselves and create art from this day. so many events and details, have a look online for more history of this day 🙂↕️
