Staying connected is a powerful part of staying healthy. Positive social interaction is incredible for your mental health, and it can even support your physical health.
Councils on Aging create welcoming spaces where friendships grow naturally: over meals, classes, and shared activities. A strong community is part of a healthy life.

Today we recognize the emergency medicine professionals who support our well-being in times of crisis.
Their work helps older adults stay healthy, independent, and supported.
Give a shoutout to a healthcare worker you appreciate!
Today we honor LGBTQ+ older adults and recognize their strength, resilience, and contributions.
Creating inclusive, welcoming communities is essential, and Councils on Aging are proud to support all older adults.
Everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and supported.
Scams targeting older adults are unfortunately common, but knowledge is one of the best defenses.
The most important thing to remember is that if it seems too good to be true, it probably is.

đ This Motherâs Day, weâre celebrating the women who shaped us, guided us, and taught us what it means to care for others.
The mothers, grandmothers, and mother figures in our lives taught us lessons that continue to inspire the work we do every day advocating for older adults:
â¤ď¸ Lead with kindness
â¤ď¸ Listen with patience
â¤ď¸ Show up for your community
â¤ď¸ Treat everyone with dignity and respect
â¤ď¸ Never underestimate the power of compassion
Their wisdom lives on in the way we support, uplift, and champion older adults across Massachusetts.
Today, we honor all mothers â those with us, those we miss deeply, and those who nurture others through love, guidance, and care. Thank you for helping shape generations of advocates, caregivers, and community builders. đˇ
Happy Motherâs Day from all of us at MCOA! đ
Health isnât just physical, itâs mental too. Taking time to care for your mind can improve your mood, memory, and overall well-being.

đď¸ Advocacy in Action at the Massachusetts State House!
This week, MCOA joined Council on Aging leaders, staff, older adults, and advocacy partners from across the Commonwealth at the State House to speak up for the programs and services that help older adults live safely, independently, and with dignity in their communities. đ
Together with our partners â Mass Aging Access, AARP Massachusetts, Mass Senior Action Council, and many others â we advocated for continued investment in:
â Council on Aging Formula Grant Funding
â Service Incentive Grant (SIG) Funding
â Healthy aging initiatives
â Nutrition, transportation, social connection, and caregiver supports
â Programs that keep older adults active, engaged, and thriving
COA staff from communities across Massachusetts brought residents directly to meet with legislators and share powerful stories about the real impact senior centers and aging services have every single day. These conversations matter â and so does the future of aging services in Massachusetts.
When we invest in older adults, we invest in stronger, healthier communities for everyone. đ
