We are so proud of Julia Donaldson who has been awarded the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health (RCPCH) College Medal, recognising her contribution to child health and wellbeing. Steve Turner, RCPCH president, says: "Our College Medal is a unique award which is only given out every so often to exceptional individuals. We are delighted that Julia Donaldson has accepted this award. She has made an incredible contribution to children’s wellbeing for decades, as a well-loved children’s author. On behalf of the college, I’d like to congratulate Julia on this hugely deserved achievement." Julia Donaldson says: "I’m really chuffed to have been awarded the RCPCH’s College Medal – it feels like such an honour, especially as I know how highly my late husband Malcolm Donaldson rated the work of the RCPCH. I’m delighted that my work has been valued in this way, and will be displaying the medal with pride." Julia was a much-praised Children's Laureate and has been awarded a CBE for services to literature. She is the UK's bestselling author since records began. This year marks the 10th anniversary of Zog and the Flying Doctors (Alison Green Books) and the publication of Gruffalo Granny (Macmillan Children's Books) in September - both beautifully illustrated by her long-time collaborator Axel Scheffler.
