I was beginning to question if my idea of the perfect partner was unrealistic. I feel so grateful to have gotten to go out with my dad and successfully summit Mt. Whitney. This guy kept up with my pace and crushed the trail with me. He survived my "elevation adjustments" in the tent and has continued to always give me the best guidance and support a son could ever ask for. Explored an old dilapidated homestead that originated in the late 1800s. Lots of old buildings that might be leaning and missing some pieces but, most of that old Longleaf Pine is still strong. Sifting through a century of old farm equipment, tools and machinery pieces together the story of the land. Long days, hard labor and a dedication to a place and the people depending on it to keep them alive.
