My father is a giant in my eyes. He is my hero. The dad I aspire to be. I learned so many lessons from him when I was a child that I not only carry with me today, but teach the youth in my care. My father is loved by all of my friends and was a father-figure to many. I love that and I LOVE him! I am truly grateful that I spent meaningful time with him this summer. In July, we drove down to our Family Reunion together, stayed in the same room and had a million laughs. I stayed with him for awhile in July/August. I cut his hair, had a million more laughs, and celebrated his 80th birthday with him. Before moving to Rwanda, I stayed with my dad for approximately two weeks in late September. We watched Ravens games and spent quality time together. I will always cherish the summer/fall of 2025 for the time it gave me as an adult with my father. With only one day of work (and allowing him a week to practice on his own), this young man went from reading that book in 12 minutes to reading in less than 2.5 minutes. His confidence is obviously much higher the second time but that’s the goal. Reading takes confidence so reading instructors must learn to teach confidence first! #obportusmotivation #bridgingthegapreadingprogram #legendaryjourney

Blessed to be on the cover of @cvilleweekly and honored to be called “The Reading Ambassador!” Thank you to all of my supporters, as this is only possible with their help. Thank you @teamcairo1 for helping me take this idea and make it a reality! I am grateful that you introduced me to Tony and Lamicka Adams, who have made my events fun by supplying popsicles and ice cream! Thank you Tony and Lamicka for the popsicles, bounce house AND for the many ideas that help ensure all of the kids read at OUR events. And thank you to everyone who donated books, money and their time! We are all one giant team creating meaningful change in the lives of Children of Color! #obportusmotivation #simunye #bridgingthegapreadingprogram

An enormous appreciation post to @macks_corner for joining us for another insightful episode of #TravelandCultureStories on Kigali In The Morning. In a deep-dive session, Mack and the hosts explored the shift in East African tourism. They discussed how local curiosity is peaking, as residents increasingly visit national parks to see what international tourists rave about. From the beauty of Rwanda’s mountainous horizons to the contrast of Maryland’s suburbs, Mack highlighted how travel, and the shared stories of explorers - redefines our appreciation for "home."
