Red Rocks…There are places that remind you how small you are, and how alive. This is one of them. It doesn’t feel built. It feels uncovered. Stone rising out of the earth, older than whatever we think we’re doing here. The red like Mars. The sky endless. It’s on the bucket list of any performer or lover of live music for a reason. If you’ve been, you know. If you haven’t… this is the one. ✨

Lately it’s become impossible to ignore. Gaza and Minneapolis are not separate stories. They operate through the same machinery that treats people as disposable and calls it order. Different places, the same architecture of harm. Property protected, always stolen. Profit prioritized. Violence justified. History has been clear about how systems like this change. They don’t shift because they’re persuaded or shamed. They shift when the oppressor is exposed and people stop cooperating. When labor is withheld. When money is no longer guaranteed. When everyday people decide they can’t keep feeding what is killing them. Capitalism responds to pressure, not conscience. That’s the pressure point. Not outrage. Withdrawal. No system built on violence has ever been undone by reform. It ends when people stop sustaining it. This is that moment.

A man of the people has won. And yes, it is a mayoral race. But the real victory is what it revealed back to us. That the horizon is not fixed. That what we believed was impossible was only waiting for us to remember our power. He stood against capitalism, Trump, AIPAC and the genocidal actions of Israel. He stood without bowing to the billionaires who try to purchase our futures. He did not bend his voice to make it comfortable for the gatekeepers. He made millions of people who have systemically been silenced, erased, and discarded feel seen. We just watched grassroots organizing break through the oldest scaffolding of fear and profit. We watched the myth of inevitability crack. We watched the story change in real time. He reminded us that the systems of oppression disguised as democracy can be undone. He showed us that you can stand with Palestine and still win. I woke up this morning and smiled. New York City elected a socialist, immigrant, Muslim mayor. It felt like the universe gave us a wink and said… Keep going.

You cannot speak about Palestine without speaking about Sudan. You cannot speak about Sudan without speaking about Palestine. Our struggles have always been connected. Our people are one. And if you look closely, you’ll see the same oppressors at the root of our suffering 📷 @mo.alriashi , @filmzephyr #sudan #uae Dubai #palestine #usa #landpalestine

In October 2023 I watched a documentary called The Lakota Nation vs. The United States and saw the uncanny parallels between what is happening in Palestine and the history of America. Colonization waves different flags, but the pattern does not change. Take the land. Erase the people. Rename the sacred. The Lakota have been fighting the U.S. government for nearly 150 years over the Black Hills, land that was promised by treaty and then stolen. They never accepted the money offered in return, knowing they were the best stewards and protectors of that land. The Lakota resistance for the sacred Black Hills remains the longest in U.S. history. I was honored to spend Indigenous Peoples day with Leonard Peltier, a man who has carried the weight of injustice for nearly five decades and never let it break his spirit. His strength and unwavering commitment to the people was beautiful and inspiring to witness. Also he’s fucking hilarious. Deep gratitude to my family at @ndncollective , The Black Hills Powwow, all the artists who shared the stage and to the community in the Black Hills. I always leave feeling lighter and clarity around on the work ahead.

I’m still a student. Still study the craft and my connection to the crowd. Working on getting outside of ego/self and operating from the collective. In practices that open my heart so I can be the clearest channel possible. Breath and prayer. Ancestors guide, spirit steers. Doing shadow work. Crying as much as I can. Praying for compassion, connection and empathy. For humanity. Our earth. For Palestine. With my family. In community. In isolation. Learning to trust myself and be safe. Not giving up what I want in the big picture for the dopamine of the moment. Learning to love myself. When nobody is watching. Hella therapy. Healing so my kids don’t have to inherit my unprocessed trauma. Still get resentful. Frustrated. Watching my parts. Laughing. Still doing the minimal amount of push ups to look passable in a beater. Studying systems of oppression. Dismantling. Doing yoga. Still on nicotine. Remembering. Forgetting. Making songs that bring me joy. Playing the flute. Healing through raising my kids. Constantly receiving parental life lessons in real time. Got it handled. No idea what I’m doing. Social media breaks. Social media binges. Feeling better on the breaks. Still eat tortillas with butter at 1am. Still don’t sleep enough. Still like creating more than sleeping. Learning to find gratitude in all of it. Getting quiet enough to hear the assignment. Intention. Awareness. Breath. Forgetting and remembering. And…Still can’t believe I get to do this. Thank you to my brother @jake_magraw for capturing tour this summer.
