4 MOST IMPORTANT TIPS TO LAND BIG JUMPS ⚠️@brazilianbrothers Due to popular demand, here’s the follow up video which covers the descent of Jamie Overbeek’s legendary 42.3M jump. Obviously this was a usual descent from such a monstrous kiteboarding jump because it was so fast! Due to the very gusty conditions at Barcares, Jamie basically dropped out of the sky! Either way, he still managed to land the kiteboarding jump like a boss and here we’ll cover the most important aspects of his technique to land it. FOLLOW US SO YOU DONT MISS OUT ON OUR NEXT TUTORIAL 🤩 1. KITE POSITIONING DURING DESCENT (before helilooping). Notice how Jamie keeps his kite at 1pm on his way down. This will be the best position to place your kite when preparing for a left handed heliloop! By placing the kite at 1pm, he makes sure that the heliloop happens above his head and gives him the most amount of lift. 2. BAR MANAGEMENT. Notice how Jamie sheets out the bar slightly on the way down. This takes some tension off the back lines and allows the kite to pendulum above his head. The pendulum motion gives lift and also acts as a breaking mechanism to slow down the landing. 3. BODY CONTROL. Notice how Jamie faces the heliloop. This is an underrated feature of any successful heliloop as it will make sure that you maintain your body under control. Technically this will also prepare you to land with the “correct” leg. When landing with a left handed heliloop, you should be landing right foot forward for the most amount of control. (Jamie doesn’t do this but he’s from a different planet) 4. BOARD CONTROL. Notice how Jamie points his board directly downwind as he is coming down incredibly hot. This allows his to absorb the landing and eventually slow down! THE 4 MOST IMPORTANT TIPS TO JUMP HIGHER 📈 after @jamie_overbeek shattered the world record for jumping height in kiteboarding, we had to make a video where we go over the main features of his jump. There are 4 crucial aspects of it that we think every kitesurfer should internalize and apply in their next jumping session: 1) KITE POSITIONING DURING TAKE OFF - leaving the water with the kite in front of you (around 11:00 if going left or 1pm if going right) is absolutely crucial for optimizing your jumping heights. This will allow you to maintain the most amount of line tension as you leave the water. 2) BAR MANAGEMENT DURING TAKE OFF - right as you are loading to jump, make sure to sheet out the bar. This will allow the kite to get closer to the edge of the wind window before your jump which translates into a vertical take off. It also allows you to carve harder into the wind for the most amount of explosion during take off. 3) BAR MANAGEMENT DURING THE JUMP - maintain your bar fully sheeted in as you become airborne. You’d be surprised with how many people have the tendency to sheet out mid air and lose precious meters of height. 4) MASTER THE PRE LOAD NECK BOOST - Jamie’s signature neck movement is arguably what has allowed his to go consistently massive over the last few years. FIRST 10 OF KITESURFING HISTORY 🤯🤩 Day 2 of Lords of Tram was one for the books. The wind was stronger than on day one and allowed all the athletes to put on a show of big air kitesurfing. Coming all the way from Hood River in Oregon, @zacadamskite was amazing the whole event with some epic tricks altogether. He was making the new NXT look really good with a ton of height and technicality behind his maneuvers. Next, we got @_alessasophia who came out of the gates throwing down some massive and aggressive tricks. We are sooo happy for her winning the women’s division of Lords of Tram! She’s been working incredibly hard for a while and it’s great that all her efforts are paying off! Last but not least, we got @jamie_overbeek who won the men’s division of the competition. Jamie was not invited to last year’s king of the air and showed up to Lords of Tram with something to prove. He rode unbelievably well all the event and solidified his day of glory during the final when he scored the first 10 in big air kitesurfing history. What a freaking legend!!! DAY 1 OF LORDS OF TRAM WAS FULL OF DRAMA BUT FREAKING EPIC! It is always one of our favorite events to watch because the spot is epic with butter flat water and nuclear winds. While there are too many interesting heats and stories within the event, we couldn’t help it but to produce a short video showcasing some of our favorite moments of day 1 of competition. Of course we couldn’t leave @andrea_principi04 out of the conversation. He’s one of our favorite riders and always so incredibly entertaining to watch. We weren’t sure how he was going to perform, coming to the even after going through a rollercoaster of emotion and pretty much no training. He pulled off some sick tricks in day 1 and showed everyone he’s still a freaking weapon. Another notable mention is @flyfinni who absolutely shred the spot to pieces. We’ve been following him for a while and it’s amazing how far his big air has gone. After winning a world championship in freestyle, looks like he is all in big air and we can’t wait to continue watching his through his journey! Last but not least, we also had to talk about arguably the most controversial moment of the competition. @josuesanf comes back to competition after joining @airushkiteboarding eager to show everyone what he’s capable of. At the same time, @lorenzo__casati returns to competition after winning pretty much everything last year. When they meet in the quarter finals, a judging error ends up creating chaos and an unexpected situation. Make sure to watch the whole video to understand what went down! THE CRAZIEST LOOPS EVER?! 🤯😵‍💫 Our trip to Hermanus turned into a crazy session with gusts of 40 knots coming through. The rain squalls got everyone running away from the spot but @jettbradshaw_ decided to go out anyway and scored some freaking epic loops in ankle deep water 😤 He is making the gear from @jacobsen.kites look epic putting the Yes kites in extreme conditions with only 8 meter lines. IT WAS GOING SOOO WELL UNTIL…😵‍💫😭 Join us for another episode of our vlogging series where we go on a wind chasing mission. With no wind in Blouberg, we packed everything and drove towards Witsand which is an epic flat water spot in South Africa. Immediately upon arrival we realized the wind was pumping and there was some awesome kiteboarding going on. We caught up with @_lana_herman on the spot and had an amazing big air session that afternoon. Lana made it to the podium of King of the Air in 2025 and has been working hard to take the crown in the upcoming season. WTF WAS THAT LAST TRICK?!🤯 @madmaxkiting going absolutely nuts in prime Cape Town conditions on the brand new @duotone.kiteboarding Rebel D/LAB. We’ve been following Max for a few years now and it was amazing to meet him and record some epic big air in gnarly wind. Max is a up and coming rider and we hope to see him in KOTA this year - he certainly has the power and technicality for it! It was super inspiring to see him sending it in 35knots of wind and well over 2 meter waves! The wind hits different here in Cape Town - it is super dense which makes it one of the best (but also one of the most challenging) big air spots in the world.
