On the day of TEDxWorthington Women, we screened a short documentary about a Columbus woman-owned business. Our first ever "Bridge Builder Spotlight" featured Allie Vanata Gill of @alvjewels Allie started ALV Jewels in 2015, here in Columbus. She makes jewelry she calls wearable art. The brand grew until NFL wives started wearing it, which brought her a national audience she never planned for. Now partnered with @freepeople and growing, we are proud to call her a Columbus Bridge Builder. 💎 She handmade custom bracelets for every speaker, shared her story, and hosted a booth for guests all day. ✨ Learn more about Allie's journey here. You can also shop ALV in person at their Columbus showroom! Video: Joey McManus @project1606llc Featured: @allievanatagill , Victoria Vanata, Bailey Zanella, Olivia Stanley, and @mackenzieallisson13

Lately, I’ve been thinking a lot about motherhood. How it’s shaped me, how I’ve changed, and honestly, how far I’ve come. From the days of postpartum depression, when motherhood felt heavy and disorientating, to now, when I can see so much growth it has demanded of me. Not because I’ve figured it out. I definitely have NOT. But because there are a few things I keep coming back to over and over again. 1. My kids don’t need a perfect mother. They need one that owns her mistakes. I lose my cool sometimes. I react poorly. I make mistakes. When I do, I own it, I apologize, and I let them see that I’m still growing too. 2. Don’t let spilled milk become a lesson in shame. Yes, even when it’s the bowl of cereal you warned them about three times. Accidents happen. Mistakes happen. I don’t ever want my kids to feel their worth is diminished by getting something wrong. It’s ok. 3. All feelings are welcome, all behaviors are not. Yell, cry, be angry, be sad. My kids feelings are never too big for me. I might need to take a moment to regulate myself after 10 minutes of screaming, but I’ll figure that out. But hitting isn’t ok. Disrespect isn’t ok. Big feelings are human. Harmful behaviors still need boundaries. 4. My kids are learning how to treat themselves by watching how I treat myself. How I speak to myself matters. How I rest and reset matters. How I hold boundaries matters. I want them to inherit self-respect not self-criticism. Motherhood humbles me daily. I fail at these regularly. Especially when I’m overstimulated, tired, and stretched too thin. But I return to these four things anyway. I think that’s actually what motherhood is…Loving well while you learn as you go. ♥️

Still taking it all in ♥️ Yesterday was magic. I’ll be back with all of the highlights and thank you’s—SO many thank you’s—but first…unloading a car full of event chaos, prepping the soccer snacks, and doing school drop-off. Getting into full mom mode, but I’ll be back with more soon! ✨
