Wrap
Proposal for a local community house. The existing small pavilion is extended vertically with a light construction. We profit from the planned dismantling of electrical pylons to shape a generous second skin around the heated core. This large, temperate space acts as a buffer and is ready to host the daily activities of the neighbourhood; markets, birthdays, movie nights. The landscape slips through this thin wrap and invites itself to the party.

Thrilled to have won the competition for the refurbishment of the Lycée Blaise-Cendrars
Displacement as a method. Building parts move within the structure, their rearrangement answering the technical and programmatic requirements. The highly qualitative built substance is preserved and reinterpreted. Interventions show their presence through structural honesty.
Along the way, a few gaps open up in the façade.
Steel gargoyles slip in and guide rainwater through the site, cooling it gently as it makes its way to the forest.

Archipelago - First prize in the competition for the Sportparkareal in Rotkreuz. Great collaboration in between @comte_meuwly@maciverekchevroulet & EDER Landschaftsarchitektur 🔥
A real treat to work with @urbaite.ch and @studio_erde for the Malley school competition, and an honour to receive third prize! The school rises vertically as a compact volume, preserving the magnificent cedars on site, while a vertical playground links the park to the classrooms.
Last few days to vote for the project Liguster!

In 1926, the Sportanlage Liguster was built as a beautiful park in Zürich Oerlikon. Its subtle topography, slightly lowered from the street level, made it an oasis of green in the neighbourhood. In 1984, it was harshly modified: concrete retaining walls were added, high hedges blocked the view, over 50% of the surfaces were sealed and trees were cut down. We were tasked with a simple maintenance of the site, with the city not seeing a huge potential in questioning its current state. For us it was clear that it was possible to better the situation: keep and improve the sports functions, yet still find more space for vegetation, unseal surfaces and try to reclaim some of the original qualities of the site. After one year working on the Vorprojekt whilst negotiating with the city to rethink the status quo, we managed to unseal 1000m2.
The athletic functions were improved, the grass playing field was extended and the edges of the site gave way to vegetation. The existing hedges around the site were replaced by wild flower fields which have a higher value for biodiversity. By removing the concrete retaining walls, a soft slope appears, revealing the original topography. The ring of trees around the site are completed, providing shade for the spectators. A few added elements: the heavy concrete garage is replaced by a light material storage, simple handrails follow the movement of people. The building received simple maintenance: bringing back its four eyes, mirroring the activities happening on the site, and colours linking it to its beautiful neighbour, the Schulhaus Liguster.

We had a simple aim for the refurbishment of the Sportanlage Liguster - give as much room as possible to the vegetation. A nice surprise walking by yesterday, a few weeks after its completion, as a small jungle is taking over.
