We worked with @miltonarchitects , @blockhousebuild and @calirand to transform the formerly unloved house and garden into a warm and welcoming family home.

This project was a real team effort. We worked with the brilliant @miltonarchitects , the tireless @blockhousebuild and the wonderful @calirand to turn this ugly duckling into a beautiful swan.
Canadian Elizabeth Macfarlane and Netherlands born Eva van der Heul, are ardent admirers of the classical English aesthetic - the faded florals of a country house, the eccentric jumble of antiques in a Notting Hill terrace, the fearless mix of patterns that seems to defy rules yet somehow works.
To native eyes, these details may seem commonplace, but to interior designers Elizabeth and Eva, they are pure poetry - the visible language of Englishness.
Through their studio, Macfarlane Van der Heul, they are distilling the essence of English interiors - comfort, history, nuance, and presenting it with fresh clarity.

On this International Women's Day, we're thinking of the women who broke ground for us in this industry.
This gorgeous painting by Sir John Lavery is of Lady Sybil Colefax and her neighbour, Syrie Maugham, both trailblazers as career interior decorators at a time when the field was dominated by men.
The painting, "Argyll House Hall - a Summer's Day", depicts Colefax's home on the King's Road where she evolved the distinctively English style that continues to inspire us to this day.

We love the way it sits with the more traditional still lives and landscapes in this room.
We curate a mix of art on our projects - the pieces our clients have collected over the years together with auction house and antique market bargains, art fair finds and commissions like this.

A chocolatey dream of a pantry in Mapesbury.
The glazed door and panels designed by @miltonarchitects and executed by @blockhousebuild and the joinery by @devolkitchens are both painted in Cola by @farrowandball and give this pantry just the comforting old world feel we were aiming for.
