Camilla Leonelli Calzado @mimisikko is a multidisciplinary artist and researcher whose practice explores diasporic memory, trans culturation, and the material languages of home.
Born in Santiago de Cuba and raised in Canada, her work navigates the space between cultural inheritance and geographic distance using textiles, found objects, sound, and performance to create immersive, sensory environments.
Her practice is grounded in research-creation and auto-ethnographic methodologies, drawing on personal archives, oral histories, and embodied knowledge 🫧

Our Spring Program focuses on contemporary fashion design research and exploration through lead artist and designer workshops. Each session offers dedicated time to develop skills.
Participants will create take-home pieces from upcycled garments to textile-based works, engaging directly with the materials, construction, and process.
This program support creative practices that are flexible on structure and experimentation, with the objective of creating a space for growth and shared learning with new approaches to working in fashion.

MACEL Studios hosted the first solo show and opening [Pay Your Tributes] by Jenny Vong @fairiesrepose
Vong’s presents the animal not as otherness but as a self-portrait and life cycle. The artworks seek to dissolve hierarchies between human and nonhuman life, cultivating empathy, reverence, and spiritual awareness, while reflecting on instinct and the re-examination of the correlation between humans and the animal world—its kinship, its experience, and the threads that bind us to it.
The show curation was directed by the artist themselves, narrating a whole personal journey with animals through paintings, sculptures, installation, and musical experimentation.
We extend our thanks for the incredible reception and to our amazing sponsors and library contributors: @offbrand.library Modelo and Zamalek.
