Amazing day with @andrevolmensky@_mhamer@down_day_deano and @abragarfield - 14 hour day, 3 modes of adventure: 🚗 3.5 hours driving, 🥾 3 hours climbing, 🏂 25 minutes snowboarding 🚗 3.5 hours back. I’ve been staring at this line I’ve dubbed the Sunset Couloir (it probably already has a name) out of the window for a couple weeks now… it faces town, gets the afternoon sun, but it’s a mission to get there and back in a day. I hadn’t heard of anyone splitboarding it before — no beta, no idea, just curiosity.
@mattgoldingg was keen for the mission so we went to have a look. We passed bogong summit at 10am and made our way toward the West Peak. Once arriving we realised the mission had turned from splitboarding to splitboard mountaineering. The last pitch was steep, icey and rocky, a few more tools will be required so we turned around and started to make our way back down ! We will be back !!
