Still at a loss for words trying to sum up this moment. Winning 1st place in Commercial Photography at Niagara College meant more than just an award—it was the culmination of a year full of challenges, growth, self-doubt, and breakthroughs. I pushed myself harder than I ever have creatively, constantly learning and evolving. But what makes this moment unforgettable isn’t just the recognition—it’s who I received it from.
My professor Jerry handed me this award, someone who had been such a steady guide throughout the year. It was the last time I ever spoke to him. He was the kind of teacher who saw something in you before you saw it in yourself. His belief in me meant everything, especially in moments when I didn’t believe in myself.
This award will always carry more weight because of that. It’s a reminder of his encouragement, his impact, and how short life can be. I’m proud of the work, but even more grateful for the people who helped shape it. Rest easy Jerry, and thank you—for everything. 💜🖤📸📸

Late af post.. but hey, better late than never.
My first year at Niagara College’s photography program is over.. and honestly, I’m still not sure if we learned more about cameras or about surviving pure, unfiltered chaos.
We had the legendary “Kaitlyn vs. Plastic Side Table” incident (spoiler: the table lost), the karaoke night that confirmed none of us are getting record deals anytime soon, and the New York trip where wandering Times Square drunk at 2 AM somehow felt like a key part of the curriculum. And, of course, our fearless leader Prof Stephen — single-handedly ending world peace with that cursed Statue of Liberty chicken squeaker. Our ears may never recover.
Between the late-night edits, existential dread over assignments, and occasional “what if I just quit and become paparazzi for squirrels” thoughts… something amazing happened. We all showed up for each other. We carried cameras, hella props, coffee, and each other through every high, low, and “is this photo even in focus?” moment — that was the magic, how everyone was eager to lend each-other a hand.
To my classmates, my professors, and everyone who cheered me on, lent a hand, or just laughed with me when I needed it — thank you. You made this year unforgettable
And then… somehow… it all ended with me receiving the Associate Dean’s Award of Excellence. I was completely blindsided — in the best way. To be recognized for my commitment, dedication, and performance over the year is something I’ll never take lightly. It’s an incredible honor, one I genuinely didn’t see coming, and it means more than I can put into words.
Here’s to more photos, more laughter, more nights we’ll “never speak of again,” and maybe fewer casualties in the furniture department. 📸📸💜🖤🥂
