“The fact of being separate from and not related to something else”.
“A mental process where a person disconnects from their thoughts, feelings, memories or sense of identity”.
Physically here mentally gone, hollow eyes no soul.
Is the world out of tune or are you out of sync while everyone else is synced to the tune, can’t hear it, can’t see it, can’t feel the beat yet the tune never stops.
We seem to forget that the world doesn’t stop when you take a break, whether voluntary or by force.
These images are my interpretation of dissociation, capturing the feeling of being physically present yet mentally absent.
The use of haunted dolls was to add to the contrast of feeling out of life while presenting a competent exterior whether by subconscious or choice.
I aimed to illustrate the feeling of disconnection in this state, especially with the rise of intensive occurrences over time which affect us all, such as war, global epidemic and just life by itself- loss, expectations, relationships, self doubt and more.
This project is my first production I brought together, a graceful chaos with changes at the last moment but everything worked out for the better.
