Dear Muses, A very Happy New Year to you all 🤍 With so many new faces here, I wanted to take a moment to share how MAABAE came to be - and where we’re going. MAABAE began with a deep desire to explore the space between my Eastern and Western worlds. What emerged from that curiosity was a love for old, antique silver jewelry - the kind passed down through generations, rich with story, yet somehow forgotten over time. I started diving into old archives and collectors’ pieces, and found myself captivated by the craftsmanship, the intricacy, and the depth in each design. That exploration became the foundation of MAABAE’s signature oxidised silver jewelry with a patina that feels antique and timeless. But the deeper I went, the more I realised this journey wasn’t just about the jewelry. As I began learning every part of the process - design, development, production - I met great people. Through them, I started to understand the artisans, the labour, and the socio-economic realities behind what we create. The supply chain, the hands, the invisible work - all of it became just as important as the final piece. I didn’t come into this as a jewelry designer. I learned (and am still learning) from scratch. With great intentionality and curiosity to be able to create pieces that are truly meaningful. None of this would be possible without you - the community. Your support and belief in what we’re building have allowed MAABAE to evolve into something far bigger than I ever imagined. And this year… we’re bringing something truly special. There are no words. Well ok yes there are absoloutely words I’m just not sure I know how to articulate them right now 😅 but I’ll try.. This was in the works for the last few weeks and I had no idea whether it would come off or not - I was just grateful MAABAE had caught the eye of the worlds best stylists and that we were even considered for such an event on an artist who literally embodies MAABAE. Doechii represents so much power, fearlessness and ambition to rip up the formula and do things her own way. Her energy is electric and I feel it. And I think she felt ours too. Grateful. Excited.
