TORNADO by Fleece comes out today 🌪️🌷🩸
It’s a funny moment to release this album. Last October, I decided to take a hiatus from the band because the process was kinda destroying me. I was exhausted from playing the social media game and I felt I’d lost my sense self which was really horrible and weird. I realized a break was my only option and it really helped me get back on my feet.
This record captures the turbulence I was experiencing at the time. It’s also a love story between us as a band trying to make it work. We recorded it from 2022-2024. There’s lots more I could say about the record, but I think the music says it best.
On a more positive note, since taking a break this last year I’ve never felt happier and more fulfilled. I love my little life in the city. I’m working on new musical projects with more of a focus on producing and the audio tech side. I constantly feel charmed and inspired, and I’m really proud of myself and the road I’m on.
Biggest thanks to my sisters Ethan, Meggo, and Jamo for always being there. You are each so important to me. I love y’all and this record would not have been possible without you three. I’m so glad it’s finally out! ❤️❤️❤️
Enormous thanks to our talented producer Gus Van Go for teaching us so much in the studio and for giving this record the epic, beautiful sound that we were chasing. Miss you!
Special thanks to Ryan Skeletron for helping us plug various hand-drawn tornado images into your CRT TVs - you rock
And thank you to all my friends and family who make me laugh and help remind me that life is actually so fun.
I really don’t know what the future holds for Fleece, but I do know that good things are to come regardless 🌘 💐 💫
Introducing Matthew Loveyou, the piano-based project of Montreal songwriter and producer Matthew Rogers.
The music is beautiful, sexy, and blue, exploring themes of nostalgia and the bittersweet. With influences including Nick Drake, Fiona Apple, Jessica Pratt, James Blake, Lana Del Rey, The Caretaker, Carole King.
Only a handful of tickets left, grab them now.
*Resurrection* Episode 5 (my favourite episode) comes out today 🥹! Resurrection is a podcast docu-series by my dear friend Dane Stewart. It’s the life story of bi-sexual playwright named Daryl Allen: It weaves together generations of history and gay experience, and seriously, it is a beautiful piece of work. I’ve had the pleasure of editing, mixing & composing for this project since 2020, and I’m so glad the world finally gets to experience it. If you haven’t had a chance to listen yet, it’s a great one for road trips, laying on the floor, and also for being emotional while commuting to the place. I’m so proud of you Dane!! I’m a proud mother!!! Stream the pod on any of the steaming places 🥹🥳💕🙂
