Kyra Boulieris (@m80trick ) is a visual artist from Toronto, Ontario. Their artistic journey started from a very young age when they grew to be obsessed with exploring symmetry and patterns in both tangible and intangible places.
Valuing symbolism deeply as a means of interpreting work, birds are a common reoccurrence in their work signifying grief, loss, freedom, communication, and more. Allowing everyone to seek their own story through their is a beautiful way to communicate and let other the audience create their own way to resonate. With the understanding that once your art is released to the world, there’s only so much you can do to impact how it’s interpreted, not aiming for relatability, but understanding.
When asked what internal dialogue is difficult to confront, Kyra allows us into their mind and expresses how difficult it can be to not hold on to guilt and shame. Something that evokes such strong emotional and even sometimes physical reactions can be hard to move past. Avoidance can be a coping mechanism, for sure…not letting it take over? that is the real win. Day by day. Little by little.
Kyras best advice:
Go with yourself.
seems like the best thing we’ve heard all week, maybe even all year.

I made an animation for my late boyfriend’s birthday. Each frame is hand drawn on paper doilies and then I put it all together in Photoshop.
I love you so much Oscar❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
