M77 News: ALESSANDRO MENDINI. COSE - STANZE COME MONDI at Villa Giulia, Verbania, from May 16, 2026. Through 130 works, the exhibition traces the career of one of the most brilliant figures in 20th-century design and architecture, from his early days in Milan’s Radical Design movement of the 1970s to his postmodern explorations. Alessandro Mendini (Milan, 1931–2019) was not only one of the most brilliant figures in twentieth-century design and architecture, but also a well-rounded intellectual who revolutionised the act of design, introducing innovative elements both structurally and decoratively. #alessandromendini

M77 Viewing Room: Composing Abstraction, Carla Badiali For Carla Badiali, collage represents a means of studying shapes, colors, light, volumes, and the rhythm that results from the juxtaposition of forms. Badiali uses collage as a sketch, working with small cutouts on a reduced scale than the final composition. Her collages, though often intimate in scale, reveal a sophisticated exploration of balance and proportion. Through the careful arrangement of colored papers, Badiali constructs compositions that seem to vibrate with an inner dimension. Each element is placed with precision, creating subtle tensions between geometry and movement, stillness and dynamism. Discover more ✨ Visit our VR on Artsy #carlabadiali #m77gallery #artsy

Last days to see Maria Lai | Antonio Marras: Paso Doble on view at the gallery until May 16, 2026. As in the traditional Spanish paso doble, each work sets the rhythm of a movement that is both balance and counterpoint, in a play of isolation and echoes unfolding throughout the gallery spaces. While Maria Lai draws, sculpts, and assembles threads, fabrics, books, poetry, and above all concepts, Antonio Marras experiments with all forms of language through a more theatrical and imaginative 📌We are looking forward to seeing you tonight for our book launch and finissage at 7pm Ph. M77 News: GIANNI BERTINI: Storia di un uomo senza storia at @fondazionebiscozzirimbaud from May 16, 2026 Curated by Thierry Bertini and Roberto Lacarbonara, the exhibition – featuring over 40 works and a selection of artist’s books, including the unpublished novel that lends its title to the exhibition – focuses on a specific phase of Bertini’s output, one of the most original and compelling, spanning the period from 1946 to the 1970s, exploring three main strands of his work. The title of the exhibition is taken from the unpublished novel of the same name that the artist wrote in 1953 and recited during a happening in Campo San Fantin in Venice on the night of 11 August; it truly represents a manifesto of thought, capable of underpinning the entire vision and complexity of Gianni Bertini’s work. #giannibertini #m77gallery

Marras recovers everything—starting with paper: (…) and on all of it appears the likeness of a being that seeks us out, that reveals itself, that splits in two, that emerges from accumulations of memory…men: sailors, travelers, exiles, fugitives, lost men—almost nothing but shadows—memories of men who move across the territories of art, as if language came into conflict with context, in a form of deep and deeply compelling untranslatability, like standing before a foreign lover whose language we do not know, but whose gestures captivate us instantly. - Francesca Alfano Miglietti Maria Lai | Antonio Marras: Paso Doble on view at the gallery. ✨UPCOMING EXHIBITION ✨ MARCO PETRUS: IN-MOTION Curated by Sharon Hecker Opening: Thursday 28 May, 2026 at 7 p.m. M77 is pleased to announce Marco Petrus: in-motion, the artist’s new solo exhibition. Featuring around seventy previously unseen works, the show draws inspiration from the generative motion—both architectural and human—depicted in Bambina che corre sul balcone by Giacomo Balla (1912, Galleria d’Arte Moderna, Milan). From May 29 to September 12, the exhibition, curated by Sharon Hecker, takes its cue from the celebrated Futurist painting to develop a series of reflections that, through progressive variations, lead the composition toward an increasingly abstract synthesis of sequences of colorful, rhythmic, and sinuous lines. 📸 Marco Petrus, Vertigo, 2025, oil on canvas, 180 × 240 cm, Ph. M77 Select: Tino Stefanoni “The beauty of Nature is not the same as the beauty of Art, because Nature does not belong to man, while Art does.” Tino Stefanoni Tino Stefanoni (1937–2017) was an Italian artist born in Lecco whose practice, from the early 1960s through 2017, investigated the relationship between everyday objects and metaphysical meaning. Trained at Beato Angelico college in Lecco and at Milan Polytechnic, he worked in acrylic, oil, and mixed media on canvas and paper, as well as on panel, iron, and plastics. His early 1960s work — including the Reflections series, praised by French critic Pierre Restany — engaged with Conceptualism, Pop, and Minimalism, taking ordinary things such as teacups, glasses, funnels, and drafting tools as its primary subjects. Beginning in the 1980s, his painting shifted toward landscapes evoking the metaphysical atmospheres of Carlo Carrà and Giorgio de Chirico. 📸Tino Stefanoni, Senza titolo 278, 1987, oil on canvas, 11 4/5 × 17 7/10 in | 30 × 45 cm Contact the gallery for more information. #tinostefanoni #m77gallery

Mat Collishaw's @matcollishawstudio monumental new project 'Inferno' comes to the Southbank Centre @southbankcentre , London — part of the acclaimed Multitudes Classical Season. ⠀ In collaboration with the BBC Concert Orchestra @bbcconcertorchestra , Collishaw reimagines Franz Liszt's Dante Symphony (1857) as a fully immersive, multi-dimensional spectacle. His film draws from historical depictions of Dante's Divine Comedy alongside imagery of man-made climate disaster — open-pit mining, deforestation, melting ice, mass displacement — to recast the 14th-century warning as an urgent meditation on environmental collapse. ‘I’ve been creating artworks that reference climate change, genetic manipulation and our interference with the natural world since the 1990s. Dante’s vision of Hell works as a metaphor for how we’ve neglected and abused our environment through hubris, gluttony and greed. His Purgatory could be compared to our fumbling attempts to make good the destruction we’ve wreaked, with solar panels, wind turbines, carbon capture and genetic engineering – solutions that seem to offer penitence. However, this contrition is often compromised by moral opportunism.’ M.C ⠀ Today 29 April 2026, 7:30 PM Courtesy the Southbank Centre, the BBC Concert Orchestra and the artist. #matcollishaw #m77gallery

For Maria Lai, a work of art is a poetic fabric that serves as a space for every possible representation; for Lai, art neither avoids nor conceals, but highlights the power of representation, which is irreducible to images. An excessive and obsessive approach, an insistent thought, a predatory gaze—Antonio Marras is the interpreter of a hallucinatory vision through which shines the real and archaic condition upon which his poetics rests: the desperate attempt to organize chaos. His entire poetics is built on the contrast between light and shadow, and from his earliest works he has traced a poetics in this vein. - Francesca Alfano Miglietti Maria Lai | Antonio Marras: Paso Doble on view at the gallery.
