Capturing Hope: A Journey to Horti
Through the lens of my camera, I documented a story of resilience and hope during our journey to Horti, a small community in the Akatsi South Municipality of the Volta Region. Despite its deprived state, Horti radiates the untold potential of its people, especially the young students whose dreams remain undeterred by their challenging environment.
As part of the FreeeMo Foundation team, our mission was to inspire and reignite the aspirations of these young minds. My shots captured the essence of this purpose—bright eyes filled with curiosity, hands raised in eager participation, and the warm smiles that followed every word of encouragement.
The images reflect both the struggles and the hope that coexist in Horti. The school, with its humble facilities, stood as a backdrop to the students’ determination. Each frame told a story: of dreams yet to be realized, of voices yearning to be heard, and of the immense potential waiting to be nurtured.
These photos are not just memories of our journey; they are a call to action—a reminder of the importance of empowering young minds in underserved communities. Through these visuals, I hope to share the spirit of Horti and the transformative power of hope and support.

The shots I captured during Akadi Tsadidi, meaning “A Walk with Torches,” by the people of Abor in the Volta region of Ghana, beautifully encapsulate the essence of tradition and timelessness. Each image speaks of a journey into the past, illuminated by the flickering glow of torches that have guided generations.
The torches symbolize more than just light—they represent heritage, resilience, and the enduring spirit of those who came before us. As I walked alongside this procession, every step seemed to echo stories of ancestors, their struggles, celebrations, and wisdom.
Through my lens, I aimed to preserve these fleeting moments: shadows dancing against the night sky, faces glowing with reverence, and the serene yet powerful connection between humanity and its roots. This series is not just a collection of photographs but a tribute to the enduring flame of history, kept alive in our hearts and traditions.
