FALLEN it’s impossible to put this show and experience into words but here is my attempt. to portray Lucifer and Wrath in my graduating show has truly been a blessing, and taught me so much about myself and how I dance. I have so so many thank yous, but first I want to thank my incredible year group. sharing the past 3 years with you guys has been nothing but a dream. thank you for your encouragement, friendship, trust, and love. lipa dance for world domination, always and forever. to @andrewnhall and @justbyne , thank you thank you thank you for your trust and vision. this show was magnificent due to your brilliance first and foremost. from watching rebooted 3 years ago to this… what a journey it’s been. a special thank you to @mariajohnsonx_ for sharing both these roles with me. dual casting with you was a piece of cake because of you and you KILLED THAT. also to @amber.howorth for repeatedly beating the ever living sin out of me, sharing the stage and room with you is always a treat. to the AMAZING choreographers I’ve had the chance to work with throughout this process, @justbyne @kibergetchan @bluemakwana @therealglennhudson @guy_salim @hannah.arbury @kenrickh2osandy . thank you for your guidance and lessons, there’s so much I’ve taken from each piece and I can’t wait to keep growing and learning and evolving. @st_nbrass and @brynm0r you guys KILLED the AV work, costume and set. flowers to you guys for your vision and execution. Hi!! My name is Martin McDonough, I’m a dancer, choreographer and one of the creators of A Star and A Pearl! I started dancing when I was 5, and immediately it was something I took to. I mainly did hip hop until my mid teens, where I decided I was going to throw myself entirely into dance and picked up tap, contemporary jazz and ballet in college. From there, I got into the Liverpool Institute of Performing Arts and will be graduating from there later this year! In my time as a performer, I have performed for The National Lottery’s Big Night of Musicals, performed for Cunard’s naming ceremony for the Queen Anne, and recently was assistant director for the Christmas dance show at LIPA as well as having choreographed for the previous Christmas show, LIPA come dancing, 2ube Xtra and more. Oh, and when I’m not dancing, I’m still probably eating spaghetti bolognese. My passion and desire to dance has always been closely tied to creating. My main purpose in life, I feel, is to help people… and wiggle every now and then. To be able to help others and make them FEEL with movement I have cultivated and developed means the world to me. With “A Star and a Pearl”, there are a lot of embedded messages that I deem very universal and personal at the same time, and I hope that me and maya can create a piece of work you can take away and reflect upon and find some personal resonance with! @m.mdancer_ #edinbrughfringe #fringe2026 #dance #performance #stagefestival

CHOOSE TO LIVE my third and final submission to LIPA’s choreography competition. with my submission this year I wanted to do something personal to me, and so I created a piece about pessimism. about being at a point where you felt so low that you had to actively choose to live, rather than to just give up on everything and everyone. I couldn’t be more thankful for my amazing dancers, for learning the cadence, for understanding the grooves, yall smashed it. a couple thank yous are mandatory. the first and biggest goes to my best friend and my muse @mes_rambles . from when you won the drama cup with this monologue I fell in love with it, with your delivery of it, and I knew I wanted to reinterpret it on stage one day. thank you for being in my life james. <33 thank you to @jackisaaccurtis for recording and mixing the sound for the first section! brother understood the assignment!! and finally a HUMONGOUS thank you to Sarah E.
