Most people think wine starts at harvest. It actually starts now!
These tiny clusters are grapevine flowers. Each one will self-pollinate and become a single grape berry. No bees needed. The vine does on its own with the help of gentle breezes.
What you’re looking at right now is the beginning of our 2026 vintage.
If all goes well over the next few months, these little flowers will become Viognier you’ll be opening at your dinner table this time next year. Grenache is also flowering, Syrah and Mourvèdre will flower next.
Watching each step of the vintage is the part of farming that never gets old.
🌿 Follow along as we take you through the full growing season at our Santa Barbara Wine Country vineyard.

One of our favorite things is when we get messages out of the blue from our club members and customers, telling us how much they’re loving the wine and how & where they’re enjoying it. Here’s a taste of that joy! 🍷

This week the team is shoot thinning in the vineyard. That’s removing any extra growth on the vine so that it can focus its energy on the shoots that will actually grow & ripen the grapes. Removing the extra shoots makes it so the plant isn’t spreading itself too thin. Fewer shoots equal better, airflow, more balanced, fruit, and ultimately better wine. 🍇

We are so honored to be included in this Mother’s Day wine gift guide! Our idea originally was to do a vineyard project with Skye‘s dad. But unfortunately, he passed away from cancer much too early, and we never got to realize that dream together with him. So for many years, Skye and I worked hard, planned a lot, dreamed a lot, and then took a risk starting Lyons Vineyard ourselves, from scratch. We aren’t billionaires with a fortune to plunk down, just a couple of hard-working people who dream of doing what we love. And thankfully we have an outstanding vineyard/winery team @carrwinery & a lot of friends we made in the wine community who have guided & helped us. We’re sure that Stephen is looking over us and is our lucky charm. That’s why we named it Lyons Vineyard, after him. 💜

Had a blast sharing our wines @calwinefest Dana Point this weekend. Seeing the surprise delight on people’s faces when we poured our Viognier was 🙌 a highlight. That’s why we do this! We love spreading happiness, one glass at a time. 💛

I’m so excited to share that I was recently a guest on the Follow Your Joy podcast with @marla_diann and this conversation meant a lot to me.
We talked about the journey behind Lyons Vineyard… and what it really took to get here.
From working in corporate careers to starting our vineyard in 2017 to finally launching our wines years later. It’s been a path shaped by patience, intuition, risk, and a lot of learning along the way.
In this episode, we share:
✨ How Lyons Vineyard began as a long-term dream ✨ What goes into building a vineyard and wine business from the ground up ✨ The reality behind making—and selling—wine ✨ How intuition plays a role in both creative and business decisions ✨ Why timing (even the unexpected kind) matters more than we think
One of my favorite parts of this journey is seeing our wine become part of people’s lives—whether it’s a celebration, a dinner with friends, or a quiet moment at home.
That’s what it’s all about for us.
Join us in the conversation and full story on Spotify, Apple, Amazon, YouTube and iHeart or /ep102 🍷Gift for listeners: I am offering a $15 credit in our online shop—access inside the Portal of Joy:/podcast/portal
A little vineyard zen. Amazing how a down day can turn around, once you walk the vines under the California sunshine.☀️ New growth gives hope that good things will come.

Amazing what a difference 2 months makes plus a record-breaking warm March. We are running about 2 weeks ahead of where we normally are in terms of vine growth in the vineyard. Still a long way to go so we will see what the rest of the season holds for us!

This 2023 Mourvèdre is dropping first to club members this fall. Want first access? Check out member benefits at our website, link in bio. It’s about more than just the wine! Although that’s great too. 😉🍷

Our spring release to our members is already getting serious attention! Both Grenache bottlings earned 94 points from Brian Freedman of James Suckling.
✨ 2023 Grenache Clone 362 – Bright, layered, and perfumed. This is the elegant, red-fruited side of Grenache that keeps you coming back for another sip.
✨ 2023 Grenache Clone 515 – A deeper, darker-fruited expression that still shows the balance, lift, and tension that define our site.
This release ups the game! And includes our very first Viognier bottling:
✨ 2025 Viognier – Our first time bottling Viognier, and it’s everything we hoped for: clean, fresh, and beautifully drinkable with soft floral lift.
If you’ve been thinking about joining the club, this is a good moment. Our Founding Member spots are nearly full, and members always receive first access to limited releases like these. 👉lyonsvineyard.com/membership
