Brussels Jazz Alert says goodbye with love It’s with great sadness that we have to inform you that the Brussels Jazz Alert adventure will not take place in 2025. Behind every cultural project, there's always a struggle to get it off the ground and keep it going, driven by passionate dedication and the conviction that these initiatives, dreamt up in the course of sparkling conversations, will do good - for the people, for the artists and for the sector. That's the driving force behind everything. Unfortunately the struggle is fraught with obstacles and sometimes we stumble for good. We've had a wonderful year in 2024, and we feel blessed to have ended December on a high note, with a sold out memorable concert steeped in a wild atmosphere at Beursschouwburg and a year filled with so many wonderful concerts and encounters. We were aiming to showcase and support the work and diversity of visions of young Belgian professional artists.  Giving them a humble push at the start of their career. Projects such as @wajdi_riahi95 Trio or @eliottknuets were just as much a part of it as @echt_band , @rebeccadriesmans , @echofarmer_ or @thisistheomen (call it jazz or not - we don’t care).  We wanted to reach out to young and diverse audiences. We brought jazz to cafés, we brought electro music to jazz clubs, and we kept our prices very affordable. In a system like Belgium's, the investors in culture are largely the public services. In 2024, thanks to the support and trust of Vlaamse Overheid, Vlaamse Gemeenschapscommissie, Sabam for Culture, Playright+ and the City of Brussels, we were able to support 7 promising and exciting projects and present them in some of Brussels' finest cultural venues as Beurschouwburg, VK, Pilar, as well as on stage at the Lotto Brussels Jazz Weekend in front of thousands of people, giving them a unique opportunity for exposure to a wide audience. Unfortunately, in 2025, the minimum financial resources have not been granted to us. (Continue in comments👇)

when I saw this picture I felt so much love for @lynn_dwt that I wanted to share some words for her. she’s been there since forever and has helped me out so so much the last few years in so many aspects. she supported the music I was writing when I had zero confidence on anything I would do. she gave me (us) opportunities. then gave me guidance in making the music exist, even though I still didn’t believe in anything myself and was going around completely blinded, scared and anxious. I slowly started believing and understanding the meaning of what I was doing - really?-, and once again she stayed there and kept helping me out. she asked me questions and she trusted my opinion and vision. later on, even though it was hard times of her, she still took the decision to keep in line with her vision, keep her agency, and we started officially working together. and until today I can only say we have plenty of fun together. the best part of it all is that she not only helped me but so many other young musicians and bands, with her huge heart and generous soul. her vision on music and the music industry is super rich, and what she stands for through her work inspires me so so much. go check her work with @ld_musicagency and @brusselsjazzalert , her collaborations with @lottobrusselsjazzweekend @jazzup_europe @propulsion.jazz and many other programs that I probably don't know about I can’t be more thankful to have crossed her along the way and to be able to say that we always laugh a lot together while she kicks my ass when needed and also has been pushing the band with so much dedication, generosity and love 📸@m4tik at @neimenster showcase closing event for @propulsion.jazz

On this exact same day 4 years ago, I was flying to Madagascar just after making a major professional decision. In a way, it was a transitional trip, having told myself that I needed to make room for new things. And a lot of new things happened! Four years later and it's another big period of change. Being shaken up isn't very comfortable, but it's so exciting if you think about the fact that these are always the beginnings of new things you haven't yet discovered. A wink to the best @talikegelle and other friends met there 💛

Over the past few weeks I've been lucky enough to travel to different countries, discovering new places and meeting up with music colleagues and friends. It seems that the common thread has been to take me from one stretch of sea (or almost) to another. The return to Brussels was like a big wave in the face, like a house of cards that suddenly collapses. Perhaps there was a message in all those bits of sea that I was staring at. But with the incredible people I've shared moments with along the way, the beautiful landscapes I've been able to enjoy, I feel lucky. They are enough to give me strength. Get ready, dear wave, I'm ready for the battle. 😁 1. The wave preparing itself to jump on me 2. Setubal, Portugal 3. Lisbon, Portugal 4. Galicia, Spain 5. Mallorca, Spain 6. Istanbul, Turkey
